He's backup for when Easton Wood and Christian Howard get injured, like they do every year.

Goodes is definitely not a ruckman.

LOL @ "the loss of Mulligan".

yeah not much of a loss, but he was a backman no?

re ruckman comments - chrs for the info, I was just going off above posts, I cant find any articles to back the claim up.
surely if you were listing backmen the dogs have lost, you'd be talking about gilbee, hargrave and lake first :P

Why vfl star backman Kyle Hartigan? Crows got him on the rookie list, 21yr 194cm beat some of the afl key forwards last two seasons

Com'on mate, talking about the Bulldogs, needing backmen, recruiting 28yr olds :P 1 + 1 +  :o

Surely Hartigan would be a perfect fit for Footscray, Crows don't need a ready made back but Doggies do!

I did.

QuoteI think it's safe to assume most teams would have already considered him over the years, especially after a stint on North's list, so surely this is just a 'try&see' by a desperate McCartney and bullies who may need to replenish some backline depth after the loss of Lake, Hargrave, Gilbee and Mulligan.

Yeh a few of the rookies stood up. Made up for a bit of Carnage.

Dudge

The back rooks did ok, some of the mid rooks did ok, but the forward rooks are a small problem. Goodes did look very at home though

Grazz

Forward rooks are still a big drama, Macaffer at F6 a bigger problem. :(
