Surprised i haven't seen anything on this... But isn't there rumours of Brett Goodes, brother of Adam may have the chance to play for the bulldogs next year. Goodes at 28 would be old, but they rate him as a decent running defender.

Has anyone heard of this??

Yeh i read something somewhere recently that suggested the Dogs were thinking of drafting him.

Mailman the 2nd

He's pretty old for a recruit but he was on their training list.

Not a bad backman I hear

Ziplock

they do need a decent backman.

Yes they do.

Would he get games? When will he be picked up, Rookie or pre-season draft?

I watched a few games late on Channel 2 some nights last year and he went ok. Carrying a bit of to much weight but thats easy to loose doing a pre season.

Ricochet

is he a lock down defender? would have thought at 28 he might be a bit slow for a defender

He goes ok mate, should get early games as you dont draft mature age players then not play em. As far as a lockdown i can only say watch his Nab form and then make a decision from there.

valkorum

The dogs should have Williams and Morris back so you would think that Goodes is depth cover for those 2.

Coach has stated Williams will play forward. Murphy too at least some of the time. Great to have Morris back but fingers still crossed there

Surprisingly not much info out there on Goodes.  Is anyone confident he'll be elevated or have a regular spot in the dogs backline?

He looks a little stocky for a running-backman, and I dont know what his endurance is like, but if his kicking is as good as they say he might become an ok replacement for lake/gilbee.

I think it's safe to assume most teams would have already considered him over the years, especially after a stint on North's list, so surely this is just a 'try&see' by a desperate McCartney and bullies who may need to replenish some backline depth after the loss of Lake, Hargrave, Gilbee and Mulligan.  The cynic in me says he might just be a what-do-we-have-to-lose gamble, and worst case he ends up being an public-interest ticket to keep the crowds coming while they rebuild given his name.

Anything he can contribute in the ruck will surely add to his case for selection, but I'll be a little surprised if he lines up for more than 3-4 games since no-one has nabbed him in the past....probably for good reason.

Can any dogs supporters tell us who he's competing with?

He's backup for when Easton Wood and Christian Howard get injured, like they do every year.

Goodes is definitely not a ruckman.

LOL @ "the loss of Mulligan".

Ziplock

goodes is 183cm, unless he has a ridiculous leap, just a llllllllittle too short to ruck :P
