jeez are Sri Lanka even going to be able to field a side in Sydney?? :P lost the wicket keeper and now Sangakkarra as the backup keeper and best batsmen....Sydney will be over in 3 days aswell

Capper

Do they have another keeper?? Do they have enough players for Sydney??

Not the way i wanted us to win that game but we played well.

Is 17 wickets the lowest amount of wickets ever taken in a test match to win a game??

Master Q

Malinga and Murali should give the BBL a break and play for their country  :-X

That could be part of the problem, also for the current test players, I don't know but Sri Lankan test cricketers could't be to well paid, that they actually need to play T20 for financhial reasons

What's going to happen in Sydney? A simmilar belting probably

TheAnt

Their young players are developing their skills through T20.. they'll need serious help when Sangakarra and Mahela retire.

Selectors name Maxwell to replace Watson.....interesting....feel a bit sorry for Usman and Moises, thought they were in line for the job

*sigh

May as well just bring Quiney back  :P

PowerBug

I'm guessing Maxwell has been playing well in the Big Bash? Can be the only reason he'd get a gig over Khawaja.

Didnt look too good against SA last night, didnt even bowl. But probably gone with a spinning alrounder since its sydney.

colmullet

if your looking for a spinning all rounder in sydney wouldn't you take O'Keefe on his home track? i dunno

Dinesh Chandimal is a keeper. He's young too. He was fielding during the Aussie innings and I'm pretty sure he took a catch. Also, if Welegedara isn't okay to play, they'll probably make sure Kulasekara's over his injury and just swap them. So, Chandimal replaces Pras Jayawardene, Suraj Randiv (who was twelfth man for this test) replaces Sanga, and Kulasekara replaces Welegedara is what I would do and what I think they will do.

Glenn Maxwell's a good player (One of my best mates played cricket with him and said he was the best player in the league) and I can only assume they're going to trial him ahead of The Ashes since they'll probably want another spin option which Maxy can provide part-time. I guess his inclusion is because he's an all-rounder and is similar to Watto, the only difference being that Watto bowls pace and Maxy spins it.

Khawaja's still on standby for Clarke in case he isn't right for the Sydney Test. Hope he gets a go, he's been waiting and deserves a run.

You can't do that. Sanga is a bat whilst Randiv is a bowler. That'll mean the Kula will bat at 7 making the XI an ODI side not a test side. :P I can see Randiv replacing Wele, and another bat replacing Sanga. Eranga, Prasad, Herath, Randiv and Mathews will get more overs. The Lankans were thinking of playing 2 spinners in Hobart, they may be forced to in Sydney. :-\

Yeah, I know Randiv's a bowler, but I don't think they have anyone else. Unless they do what South Africa did and fly over somebody.
Just reading CricInfo and saw this.
QuoteDinesh Chandimal is the only reserve batsman on tour, and is almost certain to be included in the XI for the Sydney Test that begins on January 3. He has also kept wickets for Sri Lanka in Tests, and will take the gloves if Jayawardene is unfit to play. Lahiru Thirimanne is on stand-by for the tour, and may also be flown in as cover.

Among the fast bowling reserves, Nuwan Pradeep may earn a start in Sydney, if three seam bowlers are required and Kulasekara cannot play, while Thisara Perera may also be brought into the squad. Perera is already in Australia, playing for the Brisbane Heat in the Big Bash League.
