BratPack

adjective
1.
of, pertaining to, or characteristic of an idiot.
2.
senselessly foolish or stupid: an idiotic remark.
3.
Picking Fail Hughes for the Australian Test Cricket Team

henry

I agree BratPack, which is why I really like Gerard Whatley's top 6.

Cowan
Warner
Clarke
Khawaja
Hussey
Watson
Wade
Siddle
Johnson
Hilfenhaus
Lyon

That's who I would be going with. Starc bowled very poorly early on in the 2nd innings against RSA, I thought Johnson was the pick of the quicks.

I think they are picking Hughes too early, if he gets dropped again then that will be the third time, fingers crossed for all Australian cricket fans that he can do well but if he does get dropped again then he could  be hard for him to make his way back

Maca24

Agree boys.
Khawaja > Hughes everyday.
I'm not talking just this series but Ashes.

PowerBug

Why not play both? :-\ Chapelli suggested this lineup in today's paper:

Watson
Warner
Hughes
Clarke
Hussey
Henriques ???
Wade
Johnson
Starc
Siddle
Lyon

Seems tough dropping Cowan, but let's be honest, you can't play 4 openers in the one test team. He also said how Clarke is a person for not batting himself at 3 or at least in the top 4, and he should move up now. He also said (which i've also said on here) that Watson has to open the batting. He's picked Henriques as the AR as it takes some pressure of Watto.

Mailman the 2nd

So we're thinking of dropping Cowan as well , but not Warner.....

Watson has his best average opening. I think:

Watson
Warner
Clarke
Cowan
Hussey
Khawaja
Wade

Could even put Warner down the order to 4 and see how he goes.

EDIT: Forgot Hussey...

I think the bowling lineup should be:
Siddle
Hilfenhaus/Johnson
Starc
Lyon

One last thing, is Pattinson injured and how long till Cummins is back. Will he be fit for the Ashes

BB67th

Patto and Cummins out for the Aussie Summer. Both will be fit for the India tour most likely which comes just before the Ashes.

Mailman the 2nd

Cummins shouldn't be hastily brought in for the ashes series, he'll just get injured again

doesnt look good for Harris

Brisbane Heat suffer further setback with Test quick Ryan Harris ruled out of entire KFC T20 Big Bash

From this article it looks as if he wants to take it slow getting back to fitness, but he should be 100% by the end of the summer (if Ryan Harris can ever be 100%, which isn't likely). But anyway, if he is fit, would you take him to the Ashes? Personally I think, when fit and on his day, he can be one of the most damaging bowlers in the world. I wouldn't mind a pace attack of Siddle, Pattinson and Harris.......

Sri Lanka apparently the worst pace attack in world cricket
Bangladesh probably worse, but apart from them it would be true. Their pace attack has just been woeful since Vaas retired.
