5 bowlers + Watson.

:o
One of the bowlers will be 12th man  :o
With Siddle the only one with a certain spot

Ah, didn't think to check if it was the full 12.

My bad.

Hazlewood out for the series and Hastings did do his back when he hit a big 6 in the last test. He probably wouldn't have been picked for this test anyway.

Hughes is the right man to come in at 3, but I think the order needs some reshuffling.

Cowan
Watson
Hughes
Clarke
Warner
Hussey
Wade
Starc
Siddle
Hilfenhaus
Lyon

Thats the line up I would go in with. Watson has played all his best cricket while opening, so leave him there, or drop him right down the order to 6 so he can bowl more. Leave Cowan opening, Hughes at 3, move Clarke up a spot and let Warner come in at 5 and tear the old bowl to pieces.

Mailman the 2nd

Ugh why did we leave Warner in and leave Khawaja out

yeah I agree! Cowan and Watson should open - no room for Warner IMO

The 3 day Chairman's XI match started today with the Aussies taking the upper hand, here is a scorecard I found.

S HENRY not out                                  172  (253)
M HARRIS c Dilshan b Eranga                       20   (35)
U KHAWAJA c M Jayawardene b Welegedara            56  (104)
A DOOLAN b Randiv                                  6   (26)
G MAXWELL b Pradeep                               91   (77)
T HEAD not out                                    35   (47)
Sundries (5b 3lb 2nb)                           10

Four wickets for                               390

Fall: 47 (Harris), 170 (Khawaja), 193 (Doolan), 318 (Maxwell).

Bowling: C Welegedara 21-4-76-1 (1nb), S Eranga 13-8-22-1 (1nb), D Prasad 15-1-101-0, S Randiv 23-1-121-1, T Dilshan 3-0-9-0, N Pradeep 15-4-53-1.
Overs: 90.

Scott Henry, whose first class high score is only 81* scored a big hundred to put us in a commanding spot. Probably their best quick, Kulasakera was rested, but Welegedara is likely to be playing in the test, as might Eranga. Shows just how bad their pace attack is. Herath didn't play this match though, and he could do quite a bit of damage with his off-spinners. Maxwell also hit a good 90 as Head also made a good 35* to remain at the close of play.

Scott Henry is a bit like Alex Doolan - coming from nowhere but scoring a mountain of runs...

Maxwell is too aggressive to be a Test player considering we have Warner in there already, but long-term he could be a good prospect. Khawaja with a solid 56 but Hughes has deservedly got the call-up

Henry hasn't been scoring a mountain of runs, but he is accumulating a few. He is only young at 23, so he has definitely shown he knows how to hit a big score against quality opposition and could be a future national prospect.

Even if Hughes makes runs against SL, I still fear the Ashes if that's our top order.
Your meant to have a stable bat at 3, Hughes ain't stable. :/

Cicjose

he is stable enough to still be leading the run scorers in the Sheffield Shield and second behind Aaron Finch in the One Day comp

colmullet

yeah give the guy a real crack, i think in years down the track he will be prolific, he's the only guy coming through who has an average in first class which suggests he will
