They released the 13 man squad for Boxing Day.

Second Test squad: Michael Clarke (c), Shane Watson (vc), Jackson Bird, Ed Cowan, Phil Hughes, Michael Hussey, Mitchell Johnson, Usman Khawaja, Nathan Lyon, Peter Siddle, Mitchell Starc, Matthew Wade, David Warner.

Great to see Jack Bird finally gets in the squad. It will be interesting to see who they select out of him and Johnson for the third seamer role. If they pick Bird, then Mitch is not going to the Ashes.

Unfortunately, I don't think Birdy will make the XI. I really want to be wrong about that though.

Bird won't get in over Johnson IMO, but if he does then it is clearly a sign he'll be right up there for Ashes selection

I'm surprised Ben Cutting hasn't been thrown up as an option yet. Was a whisker away from a Test berth in Brisbane last summer, got injured the week after, then nobody has mentioned him since

Great bowler who really knows how to bat as well

Yes Cutting should be getting a run as well. I don't know how Hazlewood got in ahead of them :o

By some chance is Bird and Hazlewood in good T20 form? Coz that's how the selectors pick the test squad these days.

Bird hasn't been picked for the last couple of Stars BBL games and Cutting beens on fire in T20 apparently so there goes your argument :P

Looks like the selectors have gone starc raving mad, seriously like wtf? They need to be sacked now, we can't have them doing this every summer

Its this high performance manager Pat Howard. He is obsessed with a rotation policy for the team. I don't see why you need one. Name me one international cricket team that was the best in the world with a rotation policy. All of our bowlers used to be able to play each test, why can't they do it all of a sudden? I mean how are you going to win back to back Ashes if your quicks only get two tests in a row?

Bring back Hilditch I say :o
