Yeah, what I'm doing with my team this year is picking "value players.' Players that are well below what they are capable, and as you said have proven track records. Like Martin, Embers, Mummy, Sylvia. All have averaged more than what they did in 2012.

Dustin Martin has a proven track record?  :o

Windigo

Haha, well he DID average more in 2011 than in 2012, so I'm just gunna assume he can get back to that + some.  :P

Holz

I dont think i will stick with it just looking really to expereminet with different strucutres.

Esentially you can go Swan + Ablett + Back/FWD Rook v  Redden + Barlow + Back/FWD premo

im leaning towards at least keeping swanny im contemplating going Ablett to Barlow and to use the 140k elsewhere but probably will stick with him.

pretty happy with my squad at this stage. I have the super premos in the squad while a pretty gun forward line.

Brendon Goddard, Jack Grimes, Bryce Gibbs, Hamish Hartlett, Jasper Pittard, , Sam Docherty
Brett Goodes, Dean Terlich

Dane Swan, Gary Ablett jnr, Scott Pendlebury, Marc Murphy, Andrew Embley, Oliver Wines, Kane Mitchell, Jaeger O'Meara
Brad Crouch, Jack Viney

Todd Goldstien, Matthew Leuenberger
Brodie Grundy, Jarrod Wits

Tom Rockliff, Mitch Robinson, Dustin Martin, Greg Broughton, Colin Sylvia, Shannon Byrnes,
Brent Macaffer, Jack Neade

Cox does look good but I would need to drop Sylvia to Varcoe go Goldy to Cox and spend 50k elsewhere.

Windigo

It really depends just how much you trust Goldy to deliver.

Cox at his price just seems too much and IMO he really isn't necessary if you have good ruck. Better off with a pseudo FWD player like Robbo, Zorks ect.

But that's just me.  :P

Cox holds no value in my eyes.

Just on the NQR premium strategy. I think the best way of implementing this structure would be to start with one a whole bunch of the $530k - $450k midfielders AT THE EXPENSE of the premium forwards / defenders. These guys could then be traded out to premium DEF/FWDs when either a) their good draw ends or b) their BE hits the roof. This is based upon the MIDs having a higher scoring capacity than their FWD / DEF counterparts. The best performing mid rookies will then come into the team once the NQR's are traded out.

Here's a quick team (bold players are the NRQ premiums to be traded out early). Still have $35k for upgrades. Reckon this could work. I've started DEF / FWD premiums who I think will increase in price over the first 6 odd rounds and will upgrade to others who should maintain their price afterwards (i.e. Cox / Goddard / SJ / Grimes etc).

May check Jukes' crystal ball for averages a bit later.

TEAM NAME: NQR Premium midfield
DEF: Gibbs -- Russell -- Young  -- Pittard -- Goodes -- Docherty (Stevenson -- Terlich)
MID: Swan -- Ablett -- Boyd -- Pendlebury -- Redden -- Selwood -- Murphy -- McVeigh (Wines -- O'Meara)
RUC: Mumford -- Leuenberger (Sinclair -- Currie)
FWD: Rockliff -- NRiewoldt -- Varcoe -- Byrnes -- O'hAilpin -- Macaffer (Lamb -- Neade)
CASH LEFT: $38,600

2009: 95
2010: 96
2011: 91
2012: 76

after the bye (round 13 onwards) 84 100 105 98 89 96 104 68 79 103 83 thats a 92 average so looked like his 2011 self.

you would think should be 85+ comfartably not bad for someone priced at 76.

But you'd rather Cox + Martin over McEvoy + Zorko/Robbo wouldn't you?

yeah i would, not a big mcevoy fan really. Robbo i feel is good value but Cox over Mcevoy by more than robbo over martin.

Saying that i have robbo and martin

Hey Holz can you PM me thanks. I can't start a message on my phone

Anyways it looks good. I hate people with heaps of mid pricers so it refreshing to see

chappy becomes SJ round 2, just think SJ is in for a huge season and i have faith in my rookie picking so dont need the trade.  Really liked the look of the mid rookies so have gone for 6. and because of that i have picked the 4 highest scoring mid premos.

GM

Yeah Holzy,
Looked at the 4 premo mid structure but every time i set it up like that, its feels vulnerable to a slow start.Probably needs a lifft
imo with Moloney or similar.A couple of possible  mid price defenders have thrown themselves up for selection so that could enable
some cash.Zorks could start better than chappy with his draw aswell?
I like Boyd mate, just a bloke you can set and forget.

yeah i though that too actually looking at the team looked a little vunerable in the mids.

So went Robbo to Rioli, Boyd to Murphy and Wines to Moloney.

just feel

Rioli Murphy Moloney provides a bit more scorign power than Robbo Boyd Wines.

Holz

gone back to that weak midfield set up, quite like the team at the moment.

Brendon Goddard, Jack Grimes, Bryce Gibbs, Hamish Hartlett, Dyson Heppel, Jasper Pittard
Brett Goodes, Dean Terlich

Dane Swan, Gary Ablett jnr, Scott Pendlebury, Brett Moloney, Andrew Embley, Jesse Lonergan, Oliver Wines, Jaeger O'Meara

chappy probably going to SJ round 2.

wanted to fit moloney and embley in. Feel they can go 175 together. thats not bad for 560k. Murphy and a rookie will cost about 620k and wont outscore that by much if it all.

think all 5 backs will imrpove and 90+ from all of them wouldnt be inprobable. Got a pretty solid forward line with Cox SJ Rocky and Martin.

would obviously upgrade in the mid early. Moloney might be able to get up to 350k+ after round 5-6 and with an early downgrade i could push him up to a fallen premo early.

T Dog

Good depth on all lines if it all goes to plan Holz. Perhaps keep Chappy for 2 weeks and see how his bubble b/e looks. Do you have cash to go Pittard to Tambling?
