one of the greatest batsman since Bradman is retiring and all you can muster up is "about time" ??? Cmon cic...
+1

It gives me the shower when people bag our champions. He 's been a champion for years and should be acknowledged accordingly. Now we will go through around 2 or 3 three replacements over time and we may well be 3 down for nothing for a year or two.

Jay

I'm with Ossie on this one. Give Doolan a crack

its because he was a greedy self-centered batsman selected by a panel who couldn't let go of the past

Just think you need to show a little bit more respect for one of the best ever batsman this country has ever produced.

Cic is on the money

He was arrogant too and a pretty average captain.

now is probably not the time to be bagging him

We should be looking back on everything he has contributed to the Australian cricket team and Australian cricket in general; all the runs, all the memorable team wins; all the records... you gotta be good to play 168 Tests. Good luck in your future endeavour Punter

Ponting is one of the three greatest batsmen in the modern era.

Statistically, he is the most successful captain of all time. One of 3 to surpass 13,000 runs. Given so much to Australian cricket throughout his distinguished career.

And here you are calling him arrogant, selfish and an ordinary captain.

It's childish, jealousy, stupidity and naivety all rolled into one statement.

Correct me if I'm wrong (and I could be) ... but first captain to lose the Ashes in ~25 years?

Being captain is more than just batting well. It's about good field placements, about solid tactics, choosing the right bowlers etc. He was a good batter but a terrible captain and has been terrible (except 1 lucky series) for 2-3 years

Post match interviews he came off as smug and arrogant (in my opinion)

Was never a big fan.
