Thoughts
Chapman has been a sensational Supercoach player over the years, averaging 107.7 over the past seven seasons and despite his injury concerns he has only missed 5 games in the past three home and away seasons. In his prime, he would rack up possessions, kick goals and lay plenty of tackles, which led to brilliant scoring (averaged 116.4 in 2010). But Chappy is now 31 and although it may surprise some, I believe his dominant scoring days are over and with a move to the forward will see his scores drop significantly. Chapman started off the year in his familiar role through the middle with short stints up forward. Up until round 16 Geelong were not performing to their best and had been criticised for their lack of pace and clearance work, sitting 7th with 9 wins from 14 matches. They were then put to the sword by a well-drilled Collingwood outfit in round 16 and alarm bells had to sound for Chris Scott. For these first 15 rounds Chapman averaged 108, In order to resurrect their season, Geelong injected the likes of Christiansen, Duncan and Johnson for extra midfield time, while the likes of Corey, Bartel and Chapman were used in other positions, for Chapman this was predominantly forward. From round 16 onwards Chapman averaged 84.4. Put simply, Chapman from rounds 1-15 (midfield) averaged 108.5, rounds 16-23 (forward) he averaged 84.4. Geelong will continue to use him in this manner and his scores will no doubt reflect this positional change.

Verdict
A gun for so many years, but unfortunately he will no longer reward you with regular 100’s and at 531K is far to big a risk. There will be the odd “Vintage” Chapman performance but be very mindful of his finish to last year. Steer clear.

And his three highest games came against bottom 4 sides...Nice write up and good stats about the end half of the season. Definitely not for me.

Nice write up Shorty.

A fantasy legend who will not be part of my team this year.

Adamant

Yeah, I think Chappy might be finally past it fantasy wise...maybe an upgrade target.

Nice write up again shorty. Your stat on his avg after he was moved forward is enough for me to put a line through his name.

Dudge

Agree, as u pointed out shorty, going forward certainly dropped his scoring output. good pickup mate, keep up the good work
