Hey all,

Working my way through pre NAB teams and would love a bit of feeedback.

BACKS
Goddard, B. Gibbs, B. Hartlett, H. Heppell, D. Broughton, G. Goodes, B.
Thurlow, J. Terlich, D

MIDS
Pendlebury, S. Cotchin, T. Murphy, M. Fyfe, N. Gaff, A. Ball, L. Viney, J O'Meara, J.
Richardson, C. Kerridge, S.

RUCKS
Leuenberger, M. Gorringe, D.
Currie, D. McBean, L.

FWDS
Cox, D. Rockliff, T. Thomas, D. Martin, D. Bock, N. Staker, B.
Speight, B. Lee, T.

Gorringe at R2 is the obvious one who will get a lot of people offside. That one is by far my most speculative pick at the moment. Just think now that he should be set to start the season off fit he is a chance to take over from Zmith as the Suns no.1 ruck and if he does I'd back him in for at the very least a 60+ average (as good as you'll get from any of the forward or back rookies from RD1). Also having Coxy in the forwards is pretty handy.

I'm reasonably happy with the bye structure ( 3/1/4 - 3/2/5 - 2/1/1 - 3/2/3 = 11/6/13 ) and have DPP flexibility all over the park which should be handy.

At first glance I would say there is too much money in the backs, at the expense of both mids and forwards. Lots of mid priced players, is that your strategy?
Given that there is heaps of options of defender rookies who will likely play, I think Goddard, Gibbs, Hartlett, Heppel and Broughton is too many pricey players, I would be dropping one of them, probably Heppell or Hartlett. That should give you the cash to turn one of Fyfe, Ball or Gaff into a true prem (I would lose Gaff), and possibly upgrade Dusty too - IMO he's a risky pick, was talked up last year and burned a lot of coaches, I'm not touching him this year. Also keep an eye on Daisy for round 1, there's a cloud over him...

Thoughts on my latest lineup?

Def: Goddard, Gibbs, H.Shaw, Broughton, Vlastuin, B.Goodes (Terlich, Colquhoun)
Mid: GAJ, Jelwood, Murphy, Fyfe, Ball, Wines, Mayes, Crouch (O'Meara, Viney)
Ruck: Goldy, Berger (Daw, Rowe)
Fwd: Franklin, Cox, Roughead, Rockliff, Nicoski, Staker (Kerridge, Lee)

about 40k left in the tank.

I'm aware of bye issues, however that set up has 18 players at least each week (assuming everyone is available to play rounds 11-13). Round 13 I could tank as my 4 top defenders, Ablett and Murphy are all out, but the forward line will all be there. Rd 11 is mostly rookies out with some forward line worries, and round 12 should be pretty full strength. Obviously some big assumptions there but the logic makes sense to me ;)

I am a little concerned about the backs but really the only person I would consider swapping out to would be Waters and he's in doubt for round 1/will be recovering. Maybe he'll be in by then but I think he's a better upgrade target. Birchall maybe but I don't see him as a 100+ defender like Goddard/Shaw/Gibbs.

Thoughts/suggestions welcomed!

Def: I love your backline, I wouldnt change a thing to be honest.

Mid: Maybe slightly weaker than most midfields ive seen. I would look at getting Pendles, Cotchin, Watson or JPK in instead of Fyfe.

Ruc: Very Nice

Fwd: Nice again however im not sure about Nicoski. His midfield time will be very limited now that WC are a premiership threat.

Just need to strengthen the midfield a touch for me. 9/10

Mid: I like it. Not sure about having both of Fyfe and Gaff though. I would pick one or the other.

Ruc: Cant agree with Gorringe as R2. Think it is a year to set and forget the rucks if you can.

Fwd: Love it. Just watch for recovery of Bock and Daisy.

Hmm thanks Quinny, but I can't afford another prem mid without cutting someone somewhere... You don't think Fyfe could be a keeper? I could go Nicoski -> rookie (maybe Menzel?) and Fyfe ->anyone except Swan (tossing up Pendles or JPK), do you think that's a better option?

Cheers for the feedback guys. As I mentioned Gorringe is VERY speculative but if he comes out in the NAB, takes over the ruck and averages 70+ then I think it could be a worthwhile risk. I also have $134k left over with that team so would probably upgrade Gaff to Kieren Jack or even Luke Schuey and keep a bit of coin for early round tweaking.

My other option was to go with Gaff but have Cam Pederson instead of Gorringe. I don't mind this idea as I think Pederson should get a decent crack at it with the Dees and if he can cement himself in the best 22 could easily average 80.

Yeah I do think Fyfe could be a keeper and he isnt a bad pick but when your other starting prems arent super prems apart from Gaz, Fyfe makes it look a little weaker. Down grading Nicoski and Getting JPK or Pendles would be a great move

Def: Really nice, no faults.

Mid: Nice prems. I think you can afford to run a risk on a Fyfe, Mundy or ball type in the middle to this year as we have 8 positions and 30 trades. They will give you a bit more depth.

Ruc: McIntosh an interesting unique. I dont mind him as long as he is fit and firing by round 1.

Fwd: Super strong forward line

Hey mate, what do you think of this? Deciding to go with total prem/rookie structure and only 3 prems in the back due to it being the lowest scoring line but think I have picked what will be the 3 best scoring backs.

Def: Great choice of prems, I think they will be the highest scoring too. 3/3 structure a bit risky but I can see why you would go that way.

Mid: Very strong but very expensive as well. Downgrading one of these prems for a Ball or someone would allow you an extra prem down back without loosing to many points in the mid.

Ruc: Standard combo looking like a very popular choice.

Fwd: Very strong forward line

Great team, looks very strong. Backline the obvious weakness but your strategy may be a stroke of genius. 9.5/10
