Posted this in MTTY's thread, but you seem to know what you're talking about so I'll ask you too quinny :)

Knocked this up in about 10 minutes and tried to go a little unique, but perhaps have gone too far... Anyway this was my first draft and is bound to change countless times before the season start. Also note I haven't even looked at bye structure :-X

Goddard, Gibbs, Duffield, B. Smith, Vlastuin, Staker
Terlich, Colquhoun

Ablett, Beams, Dangerfield, Cotchin, Wines, Lonergan, Crouch, O'Meara
Towers, Viney

Goldstein, Leuenberger
Gawn, Grundy

Franklin, Cox, Rockliff, Thomas, Sylvia, Stringer
Menzel, Lee

Remaining Budget - $14,600

Def: 2nd team ive seen with Brodie Smith. I dont have much of an opinion on him as I havent seen all that much of him but I think you will find better options with bigger potential for around his price mark. Yarran one that springs to mind.

Mid: Beams a nice unique in the mids. Whitfield I think is too expensive at just under 200k. Would look at freeing some cash up and getting a Ball, Embley or Moloney type into the middle. We can afford to take a risk in the mids now with 8 positions.

Ruc: Great combo

Fwd: Thomas has the ankle surgery recovery to get through so would wait and see how he is travelling towards nab cup.
Its a deep running fwd line with Sylvia at F5. Would consider downgrading him to bolster the midfield up a little more

Nice team, only minor adjustments needed imo 8.5/10

Cheers quinny. :)

Def: like Shaw in defence, he will be a reasonably unique pick and a gun scorer for you. Bock is still a 50/50 call for me, wait and see how he is travelling closer to rd 1. Yarran a nice unique that I am considering myself.

Mid: No obvious captain choice in here. Think you need one of Ablett, Pendles, or Swan. Moloney a risk but if he can get back to 2011 form he will be a great pick up.

Ruc: Nice combo. McBean a dpp but no chance of playing.

Fwd: Nice fwd line, would cut Gray though as he has already been ruled out of nab cup and possibly early season games.

Get a captain choice in the mids and a couple of minor changes to be made imo 8/10

Hey quinny88,

If you scrolled down further, you would have noticed that I changed my team. Pendles is in, Gray is gone.

CrowsFan

Thanks quinny. As a crows supporter I really rate Smith, if you watched the final against Freo he killed it as the rebounding player and I reckon he will be doing that a lot more consistently next year.

Not sure why you mentioned Whitfield, I don't have him?

Ah didn't realise Thomas had surgery, should probably change that up then. As I said it was 10 minutes of picking the team so bound to be mistakes :)

Fair enough then mate, as a Crows supporter u would know more than me!
Oh you dont either, sorry mate I thought Wines was Whitfield for some reason. Wines a far better choice.
Yep, who knows daisey could be right to go by round 1 but wouldnt have him in for now

Def: No Goddard? Think he should be a lock in every side. Rance a unique that I think will smash it if Chaplin and Grimes play.

Mid: Nice prems but I wouldnt be getting Howlett. Cant see him averaging 110+ which is what u want from your mids. Koby Stevens too expensive imo unless he shows a lot in nab cup.

Ruc: Roughead a nice unique

Fwd: Some interesting picks. Stevie J will be a gun only if he plays mid again so wait and see what the plans are for him. Wright, Robinson and Adams all have potential but could all avg around 85-90 which isnt that great so I would look at getting another gun in their like buddy, cox or nicnat

Pretty good team, just needs a little ironing out and a few swaps 7.5/10

CASH LEFT: $41,600

Bye structure is now 11/9/10

Have gone for flexibility with DPP Rookies
Structure is now  2/2/1/3 - 5/0/3/2 - 1/1/1/1 - 4/0/4/0 = 12/3/9/6 (in the format of premium/mid/cheap/rookie for each position) Do not agree with F/F cheap as it includes rookies priced above $120k.

Rich may become Fyfe dependent on NAB Cup form.

Golby is my tip for break out player this year.

Thoughts Quinny.

justifying a couple of my selections:

- haven't seen Swan in many teams, could almost become a unique. and this quote from afl.com is scary enough to put him in my side: "teammates say Dane Swan has attacked this pre-season with even more vigour â€" if that is possible â€" than normal. "

- Only want 1 key fwd to start with. buddy seems over priced.this article  http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/sport/afl/forget-kurt-tippett-here-comes-taylor-the-beat-walker/story-e6frecjc-1226542399791 and what i saw of him throughout last year is enough for me to jump on walker hoping he takes the next step into the elite bracket

-also tried to get some DPP links for flexibility

-not too fussed by byes at this stage but for completeness my breakdown is 11/12/7

any advice/tips/criticism would be great but I'm fairly happy with how it sits right now

I think Wright Robbo Howlett and Adams could all smash it in 2013 and if they do, it will work out really well..so it is a risk but i think it's worth it.

On Goddard..He struggled last year with injuries and he is getting on a bit ..new club and all could help him...so i will think about whether to get him or not.

Def: Nice defence. Hopefully Heppell can go to the next level in 2013.

Mid: Really strong midfield with A grade prems and nice mid pricers and rooks as well

Ruc: Standard

Fwd: Rioli someone I havent seen in any team yet. He's an excitement machine but I question his consistency at times. Daisy has an injury cloud over him after his recent ankle surgery. The whole forward line is probably lacking in a big name gun like cox buddy or nicnat

All that aside its a very nice tam. If you can find some cash to get one the top fwds in it will be a super side. Still a 9/10

Def: Like this spread. Golby the obvious risk but if he breaks out it will be a great pickup.

Mid: Nice spread of prems but im not a big wrap for Rich. Mundy at about 10k cheaper represents much better value and is someone that could go 110+ avg if he stays injury free or Fyfe as you said another likely to have a big season. Dont really like to comment on rookies too much as we havent seen them in action yet but Cam Richardson is a risk given he didnt play in 2012 and was delisted at the end of the season.

Ruc: Jacobs a nice unique. As ive said to a few people, McBean a popular chice because of his dpp link but he is a couple of years off getting a game so he is a waste of a spot really.

Fwd: Like the forward line. No faults here

Only needs minor adjustments imo. Its a nice side and well planned and structured 9/10

Sorry mate I didnt see this team!

Def: Fisher a very interestying pick. if He goes back to his sweeping half back role in 2013 he will be a great pickup however he is a risk given he is 30 and played more of a lock down role in 2012.

Mid: I dont mind seeing a team with no Gazza. It frees up some serious cash and gives you a leg up in other positions. Judd I think is past his best.

Ruc: I like big Ivan as a unique.

Fwd: Dont mind this. Ive repeated myself a million times I know but Daisey is a risk considering he just had ankle surgery a couple of weeks ago.

8.5/10
