Blayne Wilson

Age: 20 (26th Jan 1992)

Weight: 89kg

Height: 186cm

Club: West Coast

Position: Medium Defender

Debut: Yet to Debut

WAFL 2012 Average: 55 (58, 60, 58, 51, 65, 63, 73, 12 (injury??))

WAFL 2011 Average: 54.65 (80, 50, 58, 63, 40, 58, 45, 43, 52, 50, 76, 65, 56, 68, 29, 75, 41)

Background: Blayne Wilson was somewhat strangely overlooked in the NAB 2010 National Draft but straight after was contacted by John Worsfold to inform him they would take him with their first pick in the Pre-Season Draft. With that Blayne had got himself onto an AFL list whereby he has been playing as a defender in the WAFL over the past two years (already was prior as WA was his home state). He played only eight matches in 2012 after suffering from a Broken right ankle in Round 11 this year which left him on the sidelines for the season. Was an All-Australian as an underage player at the 2009 NAB U18 Championships, while at the 2010 ones he averaged 18 disposals at 78% efficiency. Was also part of a young West Coast group of nine players that flew to Cambodia recently.

Verdict: The Eagles could be keen on unveiling this prospect at some stage this year and could be a very valuable rookie defender either as a starter (if named in round 1 and has a good NAB Cup) or as a downgrade later on in the year.

Predicted Average: 62

Not in the best 30 at eagles at the moment, let alone 22. No chance of getting a game unless about 5 backmen go down..
