Martin banned from seeing Connors

He's a great player and we need him to be playing his best footy, and I guess if being banned from hanging out with his good mate Dan Connors is what the Tigers see fit in getting Dusty to play well and focus on improving his behaviour then this is probably the best move.

don't know if its a great move tbh. the last thing we'd want is for him to start getting pissed off at the club and losing interest in the game...

the club needs to find a way to get his footy career on track but banning him from seeing his mates doesn't sound like a terrific idea to me ???

... just read the article and it doesn't actually say that the club is forbidding Dusty to see Connors, that's just Connors' take on things...

Connors is a flowering idiot. Just some things he said in the 2nd article annoyed me

"They had tried to ring us. I got downstairs and (assistant coach) Wayne Campbell was in my house. I don't know what he was looking around for. We said we'd slept in and they said, 'Get in the car we'll drive you to the club'.''

"I was waiting in (football manager) Craig Cameron's office and then 'Dimma' (coach Damien Hardwick) came in ranting and raving.

Yeah mate you were so hard done by you piss head White Goodman. Dimma should have given him a boot up the ass to go on with.


As far as Dusty goes, im really concerned that he's going to be a front page story one day for doing something really stupid. I hope im wrong. We need him concentrating on his footy and reaching the levels everyone knows he's capable of, not hanging around idiots like Connors and getting himself in the shower

that's pretty harsh quinny. Martin has 2 drinks on his birthday, connors hadn't consumed any alcohol. Connors took his prescribed sleeping meds, martin presumably took his, or someone elses meds, then connors' phone went flat, so it didn't wake him.

I mean, all the other shower that happened around him and got him in shower was fair enough, but that wasn't.

and it's really excessive stopping someone from hanging out with his best mate
"They told him he's not allowed to hang out with me, but I can still speak to him on the phone. I still speak to him every day.''

that leaves 2 scenarios- 1. either martin can't be trusted at all and is very close to going off the rails constantly
2. if that's not the case, richmond are just being cows.

And quinny, he says in the article that he doesn't deserve to be pitied, because he dflowered up so many times before

fact is, he's right though- he took his prescribed meds and didn't wake up, that incident really wasn't his fault.

Yeah you can believe that story if you wish but it sounds like a load of rubbish to me.
He says he didn't even bother pleading his case because he didn't think they would listen? Any person that was truthfully not in the wrong and telling the truth would plead their case, its human nature to do so.
Im not just judging Connors on this one incident anyway, im judging him on everything in the lead up and some of the stuff he has said to the media since being sacked. I know that he says that he deserves what he got but he says other things that show he doesn't think he deserves it and that he was harshly dealt with.
If I say someone came in "ranting and raving" about something, im basically saying that they were rambling on about non sense. And the thing about Campell in his house, making out as if he was trespassing snooping around for clues or something?
He's just a White Goodman trying to make people feel sorry for him in the hope he will get drafted again. He deserves everything he got. That doesn't put Martin in the right though. He's an adult and can make his own decisions. The sky's the limit for Dusty so he needs to make the decision himself of the way he carries himself and the people he surrounds himself with

the campbell thing does sound like snooping though... like, he doesn't go upstairs to wake them up, connors wakes up and comes down stairs to find him- he was probs looking for evidence of drugs/ drinking.

Haha well so he should, these guys are being payed big bucks to play proffesional football for his club and they dont rock up to training because they "slepped in". I would have poured a bucket of water over them.

He had missed calls on his phone, its not like they came and snuck in, they tried to contact them and would have rocked up concerned with where they were

What would give you that idea? Neither Connors nor Martin have said or made out as if its unfair. Even Connors who is free to say what he likes hasn't said the club is being unfair or anything.
If Martin is that concerned about it im sure he would talk to them about it and they would come up with a solution. their not just gonna let one of our most exciting, talented players walk out because they dont like the people he hangs out with.

As much as a flower Connors was he's still Dusty's mate.  It's not high school or something where your parents tell you that you can't hang out with your mate because he's bad news.  The club really has no right to tell any of their players who they can and can't see in their own free time.  I really hope this is not true.
