2013 Draw:
Team : Average against over last 4

Geelong : 73.0
WCE : 71.5
Sydney : 65.5
Collingwood : 62.8
North : 90.0

Positives:

  • Young
  • Ridiculous potential
  • Top team
  • High ceiling
  • Previously a premium
  • underpriced
  • Possible role change

Negatives:

  • Inconsistent
  • Subject to low scores
  • possible vest
  • Very tough Draw

Thoughts:
Suckling is a player I really like. He is inconsistent but will improve with experience.
If he moves up-field towards the wing (like I hope) to cover Youngs departure (savage is a chance as well) he will be very tempting as this will reduce his poor scores as he is more involved. Won't get too much attention around the middle.
Saying this, currently a 20% chance to make my team, 60% if it looks like a slight role change

Verdict: Hard to say, anywhere between 83 - 94

Mr.Craig

Didn't realise that he's only 6 months younger than Birchall. :o

I think there's too many question marks to commit that much money on him. There's every chance the Hawks will view their best back 6 as Gibson, Lake, Shoenmakers, Stratton, Birchall and Guerra so Matt could get squeezed out from there. It is possible as you suggested that he could move further up the ground but that's a big maybe.

Also, his numbers have dropped off the cliff in the last 6 or 7 games of the previous 2 seasons, right when you want your premiums firing at full force.

So that's a no from me.

Ricochet

quite a few guys infront of Suckers next year so i definitely won't be starting with him. Could be an upgrade later in the year tho

Adamant

Got Suckling in just before the finals in 2011...he returned me scores of 74, 64 and 76.

I did the exact same thing this year and he returned me scores of 52, 74, 76 and 83...

He is too inconsistent, and sometimes prone to the green vest. Not for me.

Master Q

Never owned him myself. Love the guy, bit too inconsistent for me though. Huge ceiling though.

Good write up
too inconsistent for me and seems to drop off towards the end of the season

Had him the last two seasons to much hair pulling, might save my sanity by not picking him this season although the older he gets the more consistant.

Has a cannon of a left boot but Nope not for me

that's the issue I think. I'm really wary of players wi3th huge kicks from a fantasy perspective (mostly DT  wise tbh), since they have that ability to just drill it long, they're generally playing more of an outside role, so they can get easier marks and penetrate the defence. Like, I saw a video on the lions website of rich scoring a goal from (75?) out, with no wind :o

they dont get as many contested possessions for SC, or as many cheap 1-2s as they do in DT do they... :/

Solid points Zip. Suckers certainly isnt known for his grunt work or racking up 30 odd possessions for that matter

Good point

If you had a number what would it be? not 83-94.

Yeah gettin real tired of people's shower just posting vague estimations.

Suckling has potential but rate many other backline premiums over him in terms of scoring in price.
