All players not selected in International or pre season draft available here.

All players selected will constitute WXV's first ROOKIE LIST. These players can only play if you have a registered long term injury (I'll find a source later).

THE RULES

- You have 24 hours to pick. If you are online during your 24 hour period, you have 2 hours to pick from the list.
- If you miss your pick, you get auto-picked the highest draft pick (from rookie, than national, than down the list of remaining players). If you get auto-picked, you only have 12 hours to make next pick. If that is auto-picked, all your picks from then on will be autopicked and you need to explain why you missed.
- You can choose to autopick. Let me know in advance

I'll be honest, I'm not for having a rookie list.

Looking at last year, two of my best players, Lee Spurr and Sam Gibson were drafted in the 2012 WXV Rookie draft. This means in 2013, the ones I pick will be missing out completely unless someone suffers an ACL or breaks their leg. So, what happens if I can't field a team due to players not being picked in their respective AFL sides or their slightly injured, yet I have rookies that can play? :-\

Sorry, I just don't like it.

Plus, before instating a rookie list, I do believe it is something we all need to vote on as a community.

Thats my two cents.

You could always promote a rookie to your senior list and demote somebody else for final list lodgements. The entire point is to add another aspect of 'coaching skill' to the game (and maybe some more realism) so if you choose to rookie list the wrong player...well... :-X

I'm with C4 on this one. No rookie list!

Is a good point c4, reckon its solved by saying if you can't field a full team, you can select rookies. That seems fair.

You guys are free to to vote against it, but think we agreed before that you'd need 12 votes to reverse my decisions.

I was initially against the rookie list, but the more I think about it the more I like it going forward. Something meow meow has been pushing for a long time

I'm for it for basically that reason

This is something that can be considered....

I think Ossie another good idea would be that you are allowed to promote a rookie to the senior list midway through the season just like the AFL. So if you do have a rookie playing and scoring well you can bring them in to the team.

Thoughts?

Why not

c4v3m4n

I'd be all for a rookie list ONLY if we can nominate who are our rookies are going to be heading into the 2013 season. Say by the final list lodgement.

Otherwise its a no from me.

My plan for the rookie draft

- All players selected here will go on your rookie list for this year.

- You can, if you choose, demote ONE senior player to rookie AFTER the international draft but before the pre-season draft. The player to be demoted can not be on an injury list (i.e. if Trent Cotchin does his knee, you can't put him on the rookie list just because he won't play this year).

- If you demote a player, this gives you an extra pick in the Preseason draft, and one less pick in the rookie draft.

- During the mid-season break (Represenative round in AFL rounds 12/13) you can promote 1 rookie to the Senior list.

- Rookies can not play unless a senior listed player is on a long-term injury list and I'm informed in advance. Unless a team can not field enough players for a particular position (i.e. only have 3 of the required 4 defenders played).

- Rookie promotion between seasons (i.e. between 2013 and 2014) needs to be done in the International draft (like how the AFL does it).

^ That should satisfy all I hope.

Sounds good, but I do I have one question (for now)...

You say a rookie can't play unless a team can't field a full 15, but what if they can't field a full set of say 4 defenders? Do they just have to play someone out of position or can the rookie come in then?

Yeah, fair point. Rookies can play in position if needed.

Ringo

Can I ask a question may seem dumb but just need to get clarify.

We will be listing a squad of 41 players who we select teams from
We will also have a list of 5 rookie players who we can promote to cover injury and/or failure to get a team on paddock.

Does this mean then we have to have 5 picks in the rookie draft or can I say nominate 2 of my existing players as rookies and only select 3 in rookie draft. If I do this now and list 2 of my players as rookies do I then get an additional 2 picks in the National Draft.
