Once (hopefully) Ponting, Hussey and Watto retire?

I reckon

E. Cowan
P. Hughes
M. Clarke
U. Khawaja
? (Quiney maybe?)
D. Christian
T. Paine/M. Wade
J. Pattinson
N. Lyon
B. Hilfenhaus
M. Starc

P. Cummins

Watto is only 31.5 years old...

why would he be retired in 12 months?

Hussey will never retire, he's immortal!

Wade over Paine.

This teams lacks Patrick Cummins, just sayin'.

Think one of the two Starcs is meant to be Cummins.

So many injuries he may be over it...

Don't rule out the ability of Callum Ferguson

Khawaja appears destined at some point, Hughes might be like Haydos and get another go if a few years, and a pitty Mitch Marsh stuffed up so bad as he looks a talant

Warner/Hughes
Cowan
Khawaja
Watson/S Marsh
Clarke
Ferguson/Watson
Wade
Siddle
Pattinson
Stark/Cummings
Lyon

BB67th

#6
Watson will not be retired in a year. I reckon he has 4 left in him at least. I think that Ponting and Hussey will still be both around for all of the Ashes, so I think the team could look something like this after that.

P.Hughes
E.Cowan
M.Clarke
U.Khawaja
J.Burns (not really sure if he will be there by then, but it would be good to see a quality young batsman come into the team when he is still very young)
S.Watson
M.Wade / T.Paine
J.Pattinson
P.Cummins
P.Siddle
N.Lyon

Cicjose

Selectors are scared to make that many changes in 5 years let alone 12 months BB

If I was at the Ashes now and I was selector I'd go:

E.Cowan
D.Warner
S.Watson
U.Khawaja
M.Clarke
M.Hussey
M.Wade
J.Pattinson
P.Siddle
M.Starc
P.Cummins

12th Man: N.Lyon

It looks likely if Ponting can get some runs this summer then he will be carried through to the Ashes.

You play that line up and who bowls the 20-30 overs of spin :-\

Phillip Hughes is a good solid test batter and should get another run IMO

He was killing it like a serial killer until he got dropped to let an injured player to return to the side or whatever. Dad reckons (and he's probably right) that this destroyed is confidence and sorta ruined him 'cause he was a top young bat beforehand and when your young confidence means a lot imo.

Should definitely get another run ASAP.

I do prefer Hughes to Warner as a test batsmen.

Problem being they can't drop Cowan now and Watson won't give away his position as opener. :-X

@Alex - Watson has been batting at no 3 in tests for the past 12 months (when he actually plays  :P)

Warner has done ok but he will easily get found out by the English bowlers in the ashes. He has a poor defensive technique, especially outside off stump.
