Our array of openers meant Watson had to move..

I think in 12 months Ponting and Hussey would have retired and Warner concentrate on one dayers and T20.

my team is

E. Cowan
P. Hughes
M. Clarke
U. Khawaja
S. Watson
M. Marsh
M. Wade
J. Pattinson
N. Lyon
M. Starc
P. Cummins
J. Hazlewood

Plus they wanted Watson to bat at 3 because everyone else who we tried failed miserably.

Ponting was sadly out of form so he dropped down to 4, then they tried Khawaja and Shaun Marsh with limited success.

Moises Henriques?

The best hack in th biz, not a test batsman. Watch for him to play a Michael Bevan role in ODI's within 2-3 years though.

My team:
Cowan
Hughes/Warner (Depends 100% on form)
Khawaja
Clarke
Hussey
Watson
Wade
Pattinson
Starc
Lyon/J Holland (Looked great for a debut till he injured himself. Watch him closely)
Siddle

Cummins

What about Steve Smith ?

I am still not counting Ferguson out of being a test player. Even Dan Christian...?

I think Cowan will be here to stay, I like Warner in the side but maybe lower down the order instead of opening. Hughes in decent form for SA so far this year.

Noz

Can Glenn Maxwell play tests surely he could be a decent pick if Watto does retire.

he is the worst "all rounder" we have had in 15 years

Heard today he is bowling offies in Shield games now :/

Admittedly he could make the AUS team as a specialist fielder :P

Well it's been a year. :P I reckon we should go through with this again to see how close we get for the Indian summer. :D

Oh how we were all completely wrong last summer :P

I think the side next year depends on how long Rogers can stay around for. If he retires, I think Hughes or possibly Silk takes his place. Other than that I can't see many changes to the lineup, maybe Haddin retires and Wade, Paine, Hartley or Nevill comes in. Possibly Watson moves back to the top of the order and Alex Doolan gets a run in the middle order.

Bowlers seem pretty set. Siddle and Harris if fit are first picked, last spot between Starc, Pattinson, Bird, Cummins and Johnson. Lyon should stay as long term spinner, or maybe we will see Steve O'Keefe get a run, who continues to out perform Lyon in every single Shield game the two play.

I have no confidence in steve o'keefe against top quality opposition whatsoever. Tends to rush through his overs a bit and I can see him being played very easily by high class players.
I don't understand the urge to drop Lyon, he is developing very nicely, to average 33 in tests with his amount of experience is a bloody good effort, has taken more wickets than swann at the same stage of their career, we must persist with him. The selecters seem to be searching for instant results, with batsmen such as quiney, khawaja and hughes being dropped after only a couple of tests. The only possible viable replacement to Lyon I can see is Fawad Ahmed, but apart from the first shield game he hasn't done much. Lyon has been treated outrageously unfairly in his career by selectors so far, as shown by agar who is at this stage struggling with the ball in the shield replacing him last series.
