without reading the article, 2012 is actually when the mayan calender ends, not necessarily the end of the world- oddly enough, they onlt made their calenders 3000 years in advance, what a surprise :P

Well actually the Mayan calendar was just built to start again.

A book in the 1900s claimed that the end of the calendar meant the Mayans thought the world was ending, not that they ever stated such things.

The calendar reset at least twice while they were still around lol.

Pfft, I have more mod experience than most here.  I'm a high ranking mod on a very active gaming/hardware website (and trust me when I say it's not easy to rise up the ranks on that site) so I have vast moderating knowledge.  Not that I have any chance of getting a mod spot as I'm still fairly new here.

I would apply to be a mod, but whilst I think I would do a good job (and would like to think the members of FF would think I would as well), I concede that there are a plethora of other options that are of a much higher calibre than I. Good luck to anyone who monty chooses to join the mod squad :)
