Cameron Pederson, A skilled KPP/Ruckman was take at 17th in the 2011 Rookie Draft. He was elevated to the senior list before the season started as Ayden Kennedy had a long term injury. He debuted round 1 when Todd Goldstein was a late withdrawl and starred with 20 possesions and 114 supercoach points. His 2011 season was a good debut season but games were few until round 11 where he finished the season with only 1 game missed.

His 2012 season was one to forget when he fell out of the favour of the selectors only playing 2 games all season. He played in the VFL regularly playing well the few times I watched him. In late October this year he was traded to Melbourne where he should get more game time in a young developing team.

Midpriced Player Rating - 8.75/10 - Should have tons better job security this season in the backline. Has proven he can score and could average 90+ only problem is at just under 300k is awkwardly priced. If you can see him dominating and want to pay the price jump on him but I would wait until after the pre-season to see how he plays under Mark Neild. Rated him 8.75 because I thought 8.5 was too low but 9 was a bit high :P
Scoring Range: 70-95

G'day mate, can't find much on Nick Salter and you did a beauty for me om Cam O'Shea. Both from Port. Looking for a couple of cheap, but possibly reliable defenders. Would really appreciate one on Nick. Cheers and thanks in advance. :) ;)

2009
In 2009 Shane was on the rookie list of Hawthorn the full season only playing the last three games of the 2009 home and away season. Shane had 7 disposals in his debut against Adelaide but made his mark the next game against Richmond where he had 19 touches and showed that he would be a skilled midfielder in years to come.

2010
Shane unfortunately injured his shoulder requiring a reconstruction during the 2010 AFL season. Savage did not play any games in 2010

2011
In the 2011 NAB cup Shane showed that his injury would make him better than ever. Shane played very well in the pre-season games and demanded a senior spot on the team. Shane played 17 games in 2011 and set highs in all categories except tackles. He played especially well against the weak Gold Coast Suns in 2011 scoring a huge 165 supercoach points mainly thanks to his 33 disposals and 4 goals.

2012
Shane got a regular spot in the team again but had a pretty average season being well down on his averages the year before. This was mainly due to him being the sub 7 times and playing more of a defensive forward role or a tagging role. When he was in the midfield playing head to head with somebody he often got around 15-20 disposals. By the end of the home and away season savage was the sub 4 times in a row and was the sub for Hawthorn in 3 finals.

Mid-Priced Player Rating - 7.5/10 - Shane has got a lot of potential to say the least. He has secured a spot in the Hawks team but mainly as a forward. He is awkwardly priced at a tad under 300k but has the potential to score 95+ if he hasn't tagging somebody. I'd keep an eye on him in the pre-season and if one of the Hawks midfielders go down I would seriously consider him but it does worry me that Hodge was out for half of 2012 and Savage still didn't get a regular gig in there. Consider him
Scoring Range: 55-95

Cheers Locinator brilliant analysis much appreciated. I just feel if he is not vested or subbed and given midfield time can have that break out year. I'll keep an eye on him.....

TheAnt

Sorry should've been more specific. His first half of games if that's possible? Thanks though.

Ringo

To my knowledge no quarter by quarter stats are available in any of the sites I use.  If someone has a site that breaks this down please feel free to share.

Nick did not play any AFL in 2012

Tackles            5 v Collingwood, 6th Aug 2011
Supercoach     88 v Adelaide, 31st Jul 2011

No 2012 highs as Nick again did not play.

2008

Nick started well in his first game of AFL footy getting 2 goals and 4 disposals  after the first quarter. The second quarter though he didn't get a touch mainly because of a bump on him which caused a minor concussion. No stats from the 2nd game that season for Nick

2009

2009 was Nick's second season playing and he was up forward again. His season was one to forget as far as goal kicking goes not kicking one in 5 games but proved himself to be a good defensive forward averaging a career high in tackles.

2010

Salter was moved to the backline after a showing fantastic pressure in the forward line a season ago. He starred in his first pre-season game against Adelaide with 17 kicks from 19 disposals, 6 marks and 3 tackles. Nick was still on the fringe of the team though after a good pre-season. Nick played his first game in 2011 as a late replacement for Dean Brogan in round 10. He played forward again but was very average with only 8 disposals, no goals and 3 marks. When Nick returned to the back 6 in round 15 he showed that he was most comfortable there shutting down the Fremantle forward line and having 20 touches and 7 marks. He finished the season in the backline playing a career high in games.

2011

2011 was Nick's best statwise playing down back again. Nick had 15 or more disposals in 5 games and playing more as a lockdown defender not freeing himself from the backline as much.

2012

Nick did not play any footy in 2012 having numerous foot problems from the break in his left foot he sustained from the end of 2011.

Rookie Priced Player Rating
- 6.5/10 - I am not completely sold that Nick will play much this season considering how many games he has had in past seasons. There may be a spot considering Chaplin has left but I wouldn't think that Nick could be a keeper. He is a cash cow at the best.
Scoring Range: 45-65

No problem :) . If your looking at a defender at the price range I just did a bit of fiddling and found Jaspar Pittard, he could be a viable option. More than happy to do a Write-up on him if you want some more info
