G'day JROO another attempt for the Tiges. Filled the midfield last as I'm punting the midfield rookies to fire up in the NAB Cup. Not concerned about byes but trying to almost finalize all lines except the rucks and the midfielders. Well here we go
Salary Cap left  $11,400
DEF     B Goddard   B Waters   H Hartlet   B Gibbs   G Birchall   J Grimes      N Bock
                                                                           RES  L Plowman   J Stewart

MID     G Ablett   L Ball   J    J Toumpas   O Wines   B Crouch   J O'Meara
                                                                           RES  J Viney    J Simpson

TEAM NAME: sidebyside
DEF: B. Goddard, H. Shaw, B. Gibbs, J. Grimes, G. Broughton, S. Shaw, L. Spurr (J. Russell, B. Staker)
MID: S. Thompson, J. Redden, M. Murphy, L. Ball, L. Whitfield, J. O'Meara (J. Viney, M. Boyd)
RUC: M. Leuenberger, S. Martin (J. Witts, J. Daniher)
FWD: T. Cloke, A. Krakouer, N. Bock, D. Menzel, B. Smedts, T. Varcoe, J. Roughead (R. Gray, M. LeCras)
CASH LEFT: $-5,000
Some unique picks there sidvicious.
5 guns down back, but Shaw and Spurr arent someone I would look to pick. You should downgrade them to a rookie. Russell and Staker are good choices though.
Midfield is pretty unique. Thompson, Redden, Boyd all good unique options, but very risky leaving out both Pendles and GAJ.
Berger is a good chocie and Martin should be a good pick and will get game time at the Lions, but your screwed during the byes with Berger and Martin.
Only 2 premiums in your forward line which is very risky. Bock, Varcoe and LeCras could be come keepers while Menzel should make some cash. I would downgrade Smedts to a rookie as yo need cash.
Team needs some improvement, I rate it a 6/10
Made a few adjustments
TEAM NAME: sidebyside
DEF: B. Staker, B. Gibbs, J. Russell, H. Shaw, B. Goddard, N. Bock, G. Broughton (J. Grimes, C. Pedersen)
MID: S. Pendlebury, M. Murphy, J. Redden, L. Ball, J. Toumpas, B. Crouch (J. O'Meara, J. Viney)
RUC: J. Roughead, M. Leuenberger (J. Witts, B. Grundy)
FWD: T. Rockliff, D. Zaharakis, C. Sylvia, R. Gray, A. Krakouer, M. LeCras, T. Varcoe (D. Menzel, J. Daniher)
CASH LEFT: $544,500
That side looks a lot better!
Backline is very strong and I would probably get rid of someone and upgrade a forward.
Midfield is solid, pretty unique in Redden and Ball is a good chocie. Toumpas, Crouch, O'Mera and Vney will make a lot of cash and have good JS, so there good picks.
Rucks are strong and uqniue! I like it, as not many people will have Roughead.
Forwards are a little weak. Only 2 premiums, Sylvia is a gun too and I reckon he will be a premium by the end of the year. Take array out he won't play til round 5 and Krackouer, LeCras and Varcoe all a chance to average 85+. I would swap Menzel with a cheaper rookie though.
Nice team, a lot better this time. Probabay a 8/10
Would be a 8.5-9, if you could improve your forward line and downgrade a backmen.

Everything is super strong besides your midfield.
Seriously your backs, forwards and rucks are all guns which is great but could be risky leaving your midfield so cheap. Normally midfield rookies score the most, but midfield premiums score the most as well and you could be losing a lot. Eg. Cotchin and Pendlebury score 250 together while Martin and Birchall score 200 together. So you would rather mid premiums then forward premiums.
It's very risky, but if it pays of your a genius. I would probably downgrade maybe Hurley and then upgrade Simpson to a mid premium.

Thanks JR but I'm totally sold om Hurley for next year. this year it was B Waters and most got on him during the season after canning him early on. Hurley is scorching up the earth he's so hot whilst doing altitude training and at the moment definitely going to take a punt on him. As for mids scoring better than the others, that's a given. The idea behind this team is that what I lose in the mid with rookies I make up by having better mid rookies than forward, ruck or def rookies. And also working on the theory that the mid rookies will rise quicker than the others and with luck(a SC must) finalize my team quicker this way. All pure speculation until the NAB Cup blows away all my thoughts. Have traded out T Garner and Josh Simpson, Garner then goes to the mid bench and B Staker goes to the forward bench.  Cheers.

Hey jroo, I'm starting to think about structures. Based on the chaos in the rucks during 2012, caused by injuries and soreness would it be worth starting with 3 decent rucks. Eg a ruck lineup of maric , Nic nat, louenberger and a rookie? I know it's not bit of wasted cash but that might save a trade or two later in the season. I know the same could be done by using r/f players. but later in the 2012 season the extra depth could have proven advantageous. Is there any reason why this 3 rucks could be more effective than the r/f combo?

No, I wouldn't waste having anyone over $150k on your bench. You either have Leuneberger on field or leave him out. Too much wasted money

After the structure changes this gets interesting. Have changed my team.

Def: Goddard, Gibbs, Grimes, Broughton, Heppell, Pedersen, (Pittard, Docherty)
Mid: Ablett, Pendlebury, Cotchin, Mundy, Fyfe, Ball, O'Meara, Viney, (Crouch, Hrovat)
Ruc: Mumford, Leunberger, (Daniher, Grundy)
Fwd: Rockliff, Bennell, Stevie J, Zaharakis, Bock, LeCras, (Macaffer, Rowe)

Very nice team.
Backs are very strong, 5 guns + Pedersen who I reckon could average 80+
Mids are pretty good, 5 guns and Ball. Good rookie chocies, they will make a lot of $$$.
Rucks are solid, but get Daniher out of there as he is a forward only.
Forward line is good, but I reckon leaving Buddy out is risky. Bock and LeCras may become keepers.
Nice team, I rate it a 8.5/10

Nice work Nigey.
Backs are pretty solid, Goddard and Gibbs are easy chocies, but I like Haley, Birchall and Broughton. Very good chocies. Rookies are good too.
Midfield is good.4 premiums + Ball, but I reckon you could maybe go for a more unique player in your midfield, but if not its still good. Rookies are very good.
Rucks are prett similair to everyone's and are good.
the forwards are good, 3 premiums and hopefully both LeCras and Knights can become keepers. Your rookies look like good chocies too and should make some $$$
Nice team Nigey, I would probably rate it a 8.5/10

I'm keen on getting a unique player, maybe someone like Wallis, K-Jack or Priddis. Not sure who I'd take out though.

Nice team Jay.
Backline is very good! 5 guns and Pedersen, who I believe can become a gun!
Your midfield is a little weak, only 3 premiums In Pendles, Murphy and Stanton. Leaving out GAJ, is risky as well. Ball is a good chocie though and all the your rookie chocies are good.
Rucks look good, but I would trade McBean to someone else is there is about 5% chance he will get game time this year. He is 202cms and only 84kgs so he will be given time to develope.
Forwards are very good, all guns and rookies are good too!
Nice team Jay, every line is VERY strong besides your midfield, but the midfield is normally the most important.
I rate it a 8/10

I like Priddis out of that bunch. I have had him in my team the last three years. I would pick him because his cheaper than all of the other premiums, but if you think Wallis can break out he might be worth taking a risk on. Averaged 87 in his second year

Might drop a mid-pricer like Knights or maybe Hanley from the backline and free up cash for Priddis, had him last year and delivered most weeks.
