MTTY

Thought i'd throw in my two cents worth.. (Note: I will not include Tippett and i will not remove Adelaide's pick for now)

Pick 1

Team: GWS

Needs (in order): Ruckman, Tall Defender, Small/medium forward, Outside midfielder, Small/medium defender, Inside Midfielder

Likely players that could be picked: Lachie Whitfield, Jimmy Toumpas, Brodie Grundy, Lachlan Plowman, Jonathan O'Rourke, Sam Mayes

How they will pick: The first pick will be the best available player

Player Selected: (Player Name/Position/Draft Range) Lachie Whitfield/Midfielder/1-3

Pick 2

Team: GWS

Needs (in order): R, TD, S/MF, OM, S/MD, IM

Likely picks: Brodie Grundy, Jimmy Toumpas, Lachlan Plowman, Sam Mayes, Jonathan O'Rourke

How they will pick: Again the best available, however they will also address the area of OM if they select my predicted pick.

Player Selected: Jimmy Toumpas/Outside Midfielder/1-4

Pick 3

Team: GWS

Needs (in order): R, TD, S/MF, S/MD, OM, IM

Likely picks: Brodie Grundy, Lachie Plowman, Sam Mayes, Jonathan O'Rourke

How they will pick: They will fill one of their first four needs and all the above players each fit one of those positions. In my opinion it comes down to whether they want Tippett and think they can get Tippett (However i will assume he will leave at some point anyway so they will want Grundy for when that happens)

Player Selected: Brodie Grundy/Ruckman/1-7

Pick 4

Team: Melbourne

Needs (in order): IM, OM, S/MD, S/MF, R, TF

Likely picks: Oliver Wines, Jake Stringer, Sam Mayes, Jonathan O'Rourke

How they will pick: They will go on a needs basis i predict but in saying that Oliver Wines fits Neeld's mantra for success anyway.

Player Selected: Oliver Wines/Inside Midfielder/3-9

Pick 5

Team: Western Bulldogs

Needs (in order): TF, TD, IM, OM, S/MF, S/MD, R

Likely picks: Sam Mayes, Jake Stringer, Lachie Plowman, Jackson Macrae, Jonathan O'Rourke

How they will pick: They will go on a needs basis for their first pick (at least).

Player Selected: Jake Stringer/Tall/Medium Forward/Midfielder/4-16

Pick 6

Team: Western Bulldogs

Needs (in order): TD, TF, IM, OM, S/MF, S/MD, R

Likely picks: Sam Mayes, Lachie Plowman, Jonathan O'Rourke, Jackson Macrae

How they will pick: Again needs, at first i had been thinking Sam Mayes but i am now believing Plowman

Player Selected: Lachie Plowman/Tall Defender/3-12

Pick 7

Team: Port Adelaide

Needs (in order): TD, OM, IM, S/MD, R, TF, S/MF

Likely picks: Sam Mayes, Kristian Jaksch, Jonathan O'Rourke, Jackson Macrae

How they will pick: They will take more a best player, it may be different if Plowman is still there at this stage, than needs approach but he will add to forward and mid stocks

Player Selected: Sam Mayes/Tall/Medium Forward/Midfielder/4-9

Pick 8

Team: Brisbane

Needs (in order): TF, TD, S/MF, OM, IM, R, S/MD

Likely picks: Kristian Jaksch, Jonathan O'Rourke, Jackson Macrae, Tanner Smith

How they will pick: They will take a needs approach with the players that are left.

Player Selected: Kristian Jaksch/Tall Defender/Forward/6-11

Pick 9

Team: Richmond

Needs (in order): R, S/MD, OM, TF, S/MF, TD

Likely picks: Jonathan O'Rourke, Jackson Macrae, Mason Shaw

How they will pick: They will look at best player (hard to split between O'Rourke and Macrae) but ultimately needs may come into it.

Player Selected: Jonathan O'Rourke/Medium Defender/Midfielder/3-13

Pick 10

Team: Essendon

Needs (in order): -

Likely picks: -

How they will pick: Father/Son Selection

Player Selected: Joe Daniher/Tall Forward/Ruckman/10

Pick 11

Team: Carlton

Needs (in order): TD, TF, S/MD, IM, OM, R, S/MF

Needs (in order): TD, S/MF, S/MD, R, OM, IM, TF

Likely picks: Tom Clurey, Jackson Macrae, Troy Menzel, Josh Simpson, Dayle Garlett, Nick Vlastuin

How they will pick: Needs in my opinion but not their main needs.

Player Selected: Troy Menzel/Small/Medium Forward/9-30

Pick 13

Team: Gold Coast

Needs (in order): S/MF, TD, IM, R, OM, S/MD, TF

Team: North Melbourne

Needs (in order): S/MF, R, IM, OM, S/MD, TD, TF

Likely picks: Nick Vlastuin, Dayle Garlett, Jackson Macrae, Taylor Garner

Pick 17

Team: Fremantle

Needs (in order): TF, OM, S/MD, TD, S/MF, IM, R

Likely picks: Mason Shaw, Tim Membrey, Dayle Garlett,

How they will pick: A tough one, it will obviously be needs but Garlett and Shaw are hard to split given they could use a tall and also outside run.

Player Selected: Mason Shaw/Tall Forward/8-23

Pick 18

Team: Collingwood

Needs (in order): R, TF, IM, S/MD, OM, S/MF, TD

Likely picks: Tim Membrey, Dayle Garlett, Josh Simpson, Liam McBean, Spencer White

How they will pick: Best Available first up for the Pies.

You don't reckon Colquhoun will go first round?

Thanks MTTY, good work :)

Interesting that you think Richmond may take mason shaw... Hadn't really thought about it but could happen!

I'd expect the Lions to take Tippett with 8 if he's left...

but I'm not really knowledgeable.

Hawthorn have pick 29 not 27 ;)
Someone should go to pick 46 so we can see who the Eagles will take :)

I like Laine Wilkins for the Eagle's first pick.

http://www.wafl.com.au/players/view/3904

Here is what Chris25 had to say about him in his mock draft at BigFooty. He thinks the Hawks might take Wilkins at 29 but I think he could slip to 46...

29. Hawthorn - Laine Wilkins (183cm midfielder - Peel)

I do tend to have a few, but Wilkins is another favourite of mine. And coincidentally, another one who will greatly divide opinions. I should mention at the top, that I am still not convinced by this height - I think Wilkins is closer to the 187cm mark personally. But regardless of his height, he is just a really intriguing midfielder in my opinion. He is an excellent runner on the outside and, apart from the odd mistake, is generally a pretty good kick. He can also go forward and play as a medium tall up there as he proved in the Championships. At the Draft Combine he was arguably the standout in both the skills tests (kicking, handballing, goal kicking) and the athleticism tests (agility, standing jump, running jump). Probably wont go as high as I would like, but I think he'll develop quite nicely so I don't have a problem taking him this high. AFL Comparison: Sam Blease.
