Very surprised that Eugene Galekovic, Aaron Mooy and Dario Vidosic were not put in... Galekovic could've taken over from Schwarzer (this is a friendly that doesn't count toward anything!!) and produces world-class saves every week; Mooy has dominated for Western Sydney and at least deserved a spot in the squad; while Vidosic is the perfect #10 who is in scintillating form with Adelaide, and he adds poise and class which is something Australia lack. Mitch Nichols and Erik Paartalu stiff to miss out as well and a lot of fans reckon Massimo Murdocca deserved a chance

Only four players from the A-League picked (Behich, Rogic, Ryan, Thwaite) when this was widely tipped to be a squad dominated by A-League players   :-\

What are people's thoughts on this?

Galecks needs to be picked soon, the saves he makes are just amazing

a training session in the Bundesliga is better than games of A League

I'm sick of people putting down the A league. It good enough for Del Perrio to end his career here so put a sock in it. A training session in the Bunislega is full of ........ I'll give you tiltle to a dead kennedy's song "Nazi punks flower off'"

have you even compared the 2 before?

When I went to Germany, the under 10s match was about as good as what you see in the A-League.

"If you train for three weeks with Nurnberg [Beauchamp] or with Karlsruhe [Kennedy], I have to be very honest, I still think that's better than playing A-League games," he said.

"I saw the important [A-League] games last weekend and you can see players under pressure that they didn't bring the same performance that I have seen before, so they are still not very consistent at the moment. The players have to show me they can do a job against Qatar."

Mailman the 2nd

To be fair, its really unfair to compare Australian soccer to German soccer.

But it does suck greatly in comparison

Of course we are not the equal of the European nations in football terms but does that mean we have to bag our own backyard. I'm sick of people bagging the A league when this league is the future of football in Australia or do we want to return to the days of our ethnic teams with division amongst football followers in Australia. I find the A league an instrument of unity among the 1st generation of australian football followers. Can we not applaud what has happened in the past 10 years with the A league and what it has done for the future of Australian Football.

no Erik Paartalu either, surprising

I think that Osieck and co. have a lack of faith in the A-League as the seasoned A-League stars are not getting the attention the young ones are, its almost as if there is a 5-6 year age group that has been completely forgotten in Australian soccer

Tominator

here's a fun fact; only four players in the squad currently play in the A-League

Tomas Rogic, Mathew Ryan, Michael Thwaite and Aziz Behich

Alright then
Well Galecks pull off so many flowering fantastic saves in The 2008 and this Years ACL when Adelaide made the final and quarter finals, if he wasnt our keeper we would not of made it that far
He pitted himself against the best of Asia and made a name for himself as one of the best keepers in Asia. not as good as the Uefa Champions League but better then Bundesliga training

Mailman the 2nd

If the Australian team actually consisted of A-league players there would be a much bigger increase in fans
