Drop Ponting not Warner

Ponting is some 37yo flower

Warner is the future

Quiney could be the future for a good 6 years.

Warner may be the future, but if he can't leave a ball well, he doesn't deserve a spot on the Test side. Put him in some Shield matches.

QuoteI think Quiney deserves another Test.

My 2nd Test Team:
D.Warner
E.Cowan
S.Watson
R.Quiney
M.Clarke
M.Hussey
M.Wade
J.Pattinson
M.Starc
P.Siddle
N.Lyon

Hate Lyon though but we need a spinner. Surely there's someone better in this country?
Also Ponting hardly deserves to play after a duck.

I agree with Maca, this is how the squad should look going into the next. Not sure who could replace Lyon as spinner, maybe O'Keefe. Should get Krejza  ::) Seriously though, Ponting should go and let Watson in. Quiney and Warner both deserve to keep their spots for at least another test. I'm not a Starc fan, but he's probably the better option as opposed to Hilfy.

I 100% agree with Maca's lineup. You have cic's level of cricket knowledge if you think otherwise.

I agree with mine and Toga's line-up. You're wrong if you think otherwise ::)

Of course you agree with your own line-up   ::)

Until Warner can play well against good half-decent bowling he doesn't deserve to be in the side

Pretty much. We can't just 'play the future' if the 'future' is incapable of playing test cricket ::)

neither is ricky ponting? your point?

It's no coincidence that Michael Clarke's rise was at the same time as Ponting coming back to form.

Nails just tears into you then you back him up!? Logic.

Quite clearly Ponting can play test cricket. Besides, his importance to the team goes beyond just making runs, see when Australia went out to field he was the one who got the boys together after Clarkey had had his word? When Patto was raging it was Punter who settled him down and told him to just go back to basics, keeping it simple.

Believe what you want though haha

Why drop Hilfy? Probably the best thing we have in Australia in terms of a swing bowler, Siddle and Patto are carbon copys in the way they bowl, its making it easier for the south Africans, I would actually drop Siddle and bring in Starc, look at the VERY successful South African bowler lineup for example, none of them are the same, Morkel has steepling bounce, Steyn very quick and swings it, and Philanders ability to move the ball both ways at will. IMO my lineup for the next test.

E. Cowan
R. Quiney
M. Clarke (WHERE HE IS SUPPOSED TO BE BATTING!)
S. Watson
R. Ponting
M. Hussey
M. Wade
J. Pattinson
N. Lyon
B. Hilfenhaus
M. Starc

You know why an allrounder wasnt brought in for Watson not Quiney? Because Watson doesnt want to feel threatened by an allrounder, its why guys like Dan Christian and Glenn Maxwell havent gotten gigs in the last year, hes a very selfish cricketer.

cic and most of us disagree on a lot and that's fair enough, Aussies take the piss out of each other all the time. Cic and I disagree on cricket but get along fine on chat :o

You guys talk about Warner being unable to score runs...

They say you're only as good as your last test series...

That therefore makes Warner better on FOUR counts:

A) He's younger by about ten years
B) He scored 25 more runs (by memory)
C) He took MORE wickets: 3 wickets vs. 0 wickets
D) He took MORE catches: 3 catches vs. 1 catch

elephants

I agree with you KK but Watson should open and Quiney should come in at 4. Maybe a slide down the order will be good for Punter?

Would prefer Siddle over Hilfy though. Hilfy just wasn't doing anything at the Gabba. Whats the Adelaide oval pitch like? That will probably determine a fair bit.

Experience is worth a lot more than 25 runs are.

Lol yea that's right Watson's insecurities are definitely on the selectors mind. ::)
