I wouldn't risk it.

You don't want to miss out on a potential monster by buddy when he kicks 8 and scores 140 and everyone has him but you.

According to this...

a good chunk of coaches won't be starting him.

Thanks for the quote Mr. Craig :). If you go onto real footy and look at hawks fixture you may get an idea of when you should get him in ;)

Football Factory

Upgrade target for me... Hawks have terrible fixtures to start with

Gee,WC,Coll,Freo,Nth,Adel,Syd,GWS,GC,Melb,BYE,Carl,WC,Bris,Gee,Port,WB,Ess,Rich,Saints,Coll,Nth,Syd

From round 9 onwards looks pretty good

Buddy 2012 outlying scores (over 120 and under 80)
Above: 3: 130, 204, 122
Below: 6: 74, 76, 71, 72, 67, 76

This shows that Buddy has twice as good a chance of picking up a small score than a large score (more than 20 above/below his average).

I didn't even realise Hawthorn had that bad of a start.  I knew they had a tough fixture this year but looking at that has really convinced me not to start with Buddy.

Justin Bieber

Yeah I'm not getting Buddy. Way overpriced and will go down like last year :)

Of course, but the elite players can control the bleeding a lot more and get back on track a lot quicker.

Exactly, which means that Buddy won't necessarily be 'that' cheap when the time comes to pick him up.

Yes, but according to last year scores:
Gee 72
WC 76 and 76
Col 130,117
Fre 81
Nth 204
Ade 118 and 89
Syd 71 and 132

Average for the first 7 rounds 108.8
Tell me again why I should not have him from the start?

Because he's not likely to score 204 against North again.  Let's say he gets half that then his average would be 92.  That's not bad, but it also means you can jump on a bit later and still get some very good scores from him in the second half of the year for a much better price.
