Hawthorn has a horror draw prior to their round 11 bye.
They verse the rest of the top 8 over the first 7 games! And then GWS, GC, Melbourne
Over the past two years, buddy averaged 95.8 against these teams.
Being priced at a skewed price of 101, you'd be dissapointed if he returns these numbers. Particularly because he averaged below 95 without that 204!

Have a look at this graph!
http://dream-stats.com/stats/player/2012/round/441/

So why not picking him up for the GWS game, or even take a punt and wait till his bye as he has the perfect bye to upgrade to!
After his bye next year his draw softens considerably, over the past two years he has averaged over 105 against  the teams he will verse after round 11....
For these reasons, combined with his durability and suspensions issues I can't see him starting in my team!

what are your thoughts?

Sweetness

100% agree.
I'll be waiting til the bye

People who dont pick him will be left behind
every one knows the scores he is capable of

Eg from last season 74, 76, 71, 72, 67 and 76?

Not in my current side......however it is only November 2012 ;)

good idea for a thread mate. i've been trying to justify not having him in my starting lineup next year, and those stats about the bye do it for me.

i know it could really backfire on me, but it lets other areas of my team be much stronger. has to be in the team by DT finals though, so will look to upgrade to him after his bye i think.

Surely he would be in ur team at the start! Only key fwd u would pick and remember a lot of those good fwd/mid options will more than likely be gone this year. Will avg 95-105 for the year so well worth the $'s.

With those 6 scores between 67-76 he kicked 15 goals 18 behinds. If he could sort his accuracy out and convert say 10 of those behinds into goals then ud be looking at 80-85 say instead and if that's he's bad games then ill take that anyway of the week.

Imagine he scores a 170+ score again... Ull be kicking ur selves!

I dont get why people take out a players score and then give the average without that score especially in this case..

Buddy scored that 200+ and is very capable of doing it again... he definitely deserves to have that in his average..!!

I get it if a player is injured and subbed out. eg stevie js 1.. its highly unlikely hes gonna get completely steamrolled at the 1st bounce again so in understand this being  taken out...

This really grinds my gears..!!

I think it depends what strategy you are going for. If using the traditional guns and rookies strategy, you'd have to lock him in. If you have a lot of mid pricers, you might be able to hold off and bring him in later if most of the mid pricers become guns...

He'll be in my team for certain.

I'm not implying it was a complete fluke, I'm simply stating that there are better value options that could average similarly up to his bye.

Sorry Slipknot, another annoying stat, but without the 200, he averaged less than Pav.

Might be best to use him before the bye. He seems to get a little tired towards the end of the season.

Good luck finding the cash for Buddy after his bye when his three matches immediately before are currently the three worst teams in the league.

Buddy was 25 this season so still pretty young for a key forward

A 26yo buddy should improve on the season just gone therefore I wouldn't dare not start him this year.

I'd say for a player like buddy 28yo would be around his peak age... Therefore he's likely to improve next year and the couple years after.

Therefore starting without him in any of the next 3 seasons is a little cray cray.
