I use Public Transport, but alot of what I do is within an hour walk (friend's houses or parks, etc) so can live :P. Don't use alot of money besides the odd outting so I save from B'day/Christmas/Pocket Money for them. As I enjoy just hanging with some friends at a Park and kicking the footy or go watch movies at a house, nothing expensive involved 8).

I got my L's on my bday when I was 16 like most people. I had knee surgery when I was 17 and that pretty much stopped me from driving for over a year. Then it was VCE exams. Then I learned how to drive in the break between school and uni and did about 60 hours. Uni is in the city, so everyone trains there and I didn't need to ever drive. Then this year I have driven most weekends and have 117 hours so far although it hasn't stopped me from going out. I could wait 6 months and then I wouldn't need hours anyway and just go to Green P's lol but I want my licence for this summer.
I worked from year 9 to year 11, with the intention of using the money during my first year of year so i could party/didn't need a job. Fortunately it lasted me two years because I didn't have petrol to worry about :P
Also, few people who are studying what I study have jobs because it is so hard and time consuming. It is something like the 7th or 9th (I forgot) hardest course in the world, with theoretical physics and physics based courses taking out the top 3.

when i first moved to Sydney i didnt need a car as there was a bus stop out the front of my place and shops 5 minutes up the road. plus Sydney traffic is hell for a new driver and hard to find parking

I've had my P's for a year as well, thanks to SA's laws :P

Yeah I have the two jobs one working at a local supermarket and then just helping out footy coaching at my old primary school, the second one doesn't take up too much time :P Then I have footy, Waterpolo and Cricket on top of that ;)

I need to buy weekly mymulti tickets for uni (since I live 2 hours away :/ ), so I get everywhere by public transport/ lifts depending on whats happening where :P

And centrelink gives me money for that (not heaps of money, but enough to cover basically my ticket, and a small amount of spending money :P ) :P

As for why I dont have my licence... I didn't get my Ls until I was 17, dad works a lot and is also a bit lazy, and so couldn't give me lessons... then I had my HSC, then I worked full time for a bit, and then went overseas. I've managed to crawl my way up to 60 hours, and I was going to BS the rest, but then I snapped my ankle in april (like a week before my birthday :/ ), and it's only just recovered to the point where I can drive safely (but I prefer only doing short distances in good conditions, since I don't fully trust it yet :P ).

My centrelink application was great :P went to the centre with all the documents etc. During the process, we had this discussion.
Lady who was helping me - ok, and how much money do you currently have in your bank account?

*empties wallet and counts* me- 45c.

I got my P's bang on my 18th birthday at 8.30 in the morning.  8)

I just work around town. Seeing as I'm one of 4 kids/teens who live in town, I get a lot of calls.  ::)

This past week I've earned over $600 doing two jobs.  :)

+ $100 in greyhound racing profit.  :P
