a question for anyone doing economics...

Just exactly which planet do we owe it to? "

Good luck to all! I'm currently in year 11 so doing 1/2 subjects mainly which have exams in 2 weeks but am doing 1 3/4 subject (legal) next Friday which I am pretty nervous about. Have gone pretty well on SACs though so should be ok.

the SACE is so easy to abuse... you do the shower subjects, get a good grade, and get a higher ATAR than a really smart person who does hard subjects and does OK in it

That's why I'm doing the easy science subject next year  ;)
ATAR weights the different subjects mate. eg. An A in specialist maths and an A in maths apps dont count for the same towards score.

Good luck to all those year 12's with exams.. Went through it last year. Came out on top :P If you guys seriously need any tips for Methods, Spech, Chem, Accounting (ESPECIALLY ACCOUNTING CAUSE IM PRO AT IT), just give me a PM or post it here and im sure someone will figure it out

Had one uni exam today. Oral Health Science B. Easy :P

he is *kind* of right.

but you have to be really smart. For instance, if you do general maths (in NSW, lowest type of atar maths), rather than doing 3un, you get 100% and it's going to be close to 100% anyway.

basically, yeah, do the easy subjects, but when you say smash, you literally need to have to get close to full marks. Or, yu do the harder subjects, and you get shower marks, and they get scaled up (for instance, from memory a 50 in 4un maths in nsw (which is a bit harder than the hardest vic maths), if you get 50%, if scales to a 90)

In VCE at least, if you do the 'hard' subjects you get scaled up more because technically all the 'smart' people will do them and thus there is more scaling to even it out.

But if you do the 'easy' subjects, then unless you pretty much full marks (so 50) when you would get scaled down.

Eg. Doing Further Maths which is considered 'easy' may not be beneficial as getting a 50 is incredibly hard (due to everyone thinking it is easy), and small mistakes can be costly, you could make 5 small mistakes which costs you 5 study scores (so 45) and then further scaling down (to low 40's).
Rather, you could do Specialist Maths (or Maths Methods) which is harder, get a 'decent score' (say 35) and this will scale it up to above 40

My outdoor Ed study score was only 37 :P

All my subjects get scaled down  >:(

High 30s in both English and Bus Man means I only need roughly a combined study score of 50 between two of Further, VCD and Psych to get the ATAR I need. My Religion and Society (which I did last year) study score is bound to be outside my top 4 as I only got 25...

Saw your posts on the ATAR Notes forum, BoredSaint. Nice ATAR too by the way! I'm worried that with all my subjects being scaled down that I mightn't even get the ATAR I need.

To anyone who sat the 2012 English exam, were you gender-specific when referring to the child in the first slide of the language analysis?
