Gotta love all my units having 2 hour lectures

are you being sarcastic or not? I would have loved 2 hour lectures. In honors all mine where 3 hour lectures.

honors

honors is not too much special, just a 4th year. Its still undergrad

I actually liked the 2 hour classes in the bachelor

rather that then having to come into uni on different days for lectures. Knock it out in one shot.

From my 6 semesters (including this one just started), I've only had 2 classes not be 3 hours (bachelor degree), and those were 2 hour lectures with a 1 hour tute straight after :P

In other news, I'm going to have to come back next year to do my final unit :/ at least I'm getting my major in marketing now

In the process of applying to have my 48% taken as a conceded pass... #prayforme

PowerBug

Never had a two hour lecture before, only 1. Only in 2nd year out of 3 though.

I try to get this when possible. Wasn't an option for Sociology this semester (where I've got the 3 hour break that I have no intention of sitting through) but my Wednesdays and Thursdays are like this from 9-12 which is great.

It depends on both the unit and the lecturer. One of my units is Distributed Computing, which has a lot of Computer Architecture stuff which gets pretty hard to pay attention to for 2 hours non-stop, especially when this lecturer basically never stops for a break halfway through.

Others can be ok if the lecturer allows for more interaction with everyone, but this is rarely the case.

Sucks haha. Surely if you find a job, easy to just fit it in on the side rather than take another semester off for it alone!

Good luck, hopefully it's a nice admin for the unit.

I think he was quoting cause in Australia it's Honours (with a u :P ). Could be wrong though haha. Honours for me it's 3 hours worth of lectures but split into 1.5 hours each. Almost through and have to work harder on this project over the next 2-3 months.

luck you le, usyd doesn't do conceded passes under any circumstances... if you fail a subject your best case scenario is that they count it as a discontinue not fail (and that's if you were like hospitalised or suffering from severe mental illness :P )

goodluck on it!

Gotta gear up to take off for my first tute of the year, should be interesting. Missed out on the lecture for it too, so it might be interesting to see how that impacts things.

Going in for a 3pm tute is a bit of a drag, but definitely prefer that to going in at 10, sitting through a 2 hour lecture with nothing to get me through and then a 3 hour break with the same.

What is a conceded pass?

I believe it's not considered a pass or a fail, but still goes towards your degree and you get the credit points. Usually a grade between 45 and 50.

Yeah spot on, when someone has failed a unit due to extraordinary circumstances and the uni basically says, all things being equal we would have assumed you to pass.

Forming groups for an assignment due in 2 (and 3) weeks time in class this arvo, yay.
