I properly bullshowerted my way through the first half of an essay and have kinda run out of bullshower to do the other half.

This is terrible.

AWESOME Zippy! That's a killer so great you've come out of it pumped, usually drains everybody else :P.

haha, don't get me wrong, I came out flowered and thought I was going to fail, I ended up coming top 2% :D
That's awesome Zip, congrats mate!

Does anybody else have one lecturer who you never seem to score well with? I swear my highest assessment grade with him has been about a 58 across like 4 units, while my total average is like a 65 and I'm usually scoring easily above that recently. Very suspicious...

I've had a couple of harsh markers.

The guy I've had for drama this semester I had for media first year and I failed that.

The dude I've got for business is for of a businessman than a teacher and admitted to being a harsh marker.

Speaking of drama though, gotta do my performance today at my high school. It's more or less a stand up routine with some bits of improv chucked in. I've got this thing of looking down when I perform if I get nervous which happens quite a bit (read: pretty much every time) and so I'm hoping to actually make fun of that and use that as part of my act.

I was originally gonna have a mate help me out as an extra but he sent me a text yesterday saying he's had health issues for the past week and won't be able to come in today which is shower, so I basically had to adapt half of the routine. Oh well, I guess I can make a point of that.

Different area, but for me it just depends on how bright the rest of your class is.

I'm in one tute this semester with people who clearly aren't very clued into the course work - wrote what I thought was a pretty decent essay - got a H1 (HD equivalent). In another class with very articulate, intelligent people - wrote what I thought was a killer essay - got a H2A. It's all just weighting in my experience.

Yeah but not all units are scaled or marked according to other people's results. Some classes they're happy if everyone gets an HD or if everyone gets a P.

I don't like harsh markers but I appreciate it. At least you know that you can improve. Think of it this way, if everyone was a harsh marker, the quality of graduates would improve dramatically because there would be a lot more people failing. If the quality improves significant, industries become more pleased with your unis graduates and therefore when you graduate, you're looked in a better light.

Big Mac

Been working on a group project this semester and have somehow ended up in the somewhat enviable position where I have nothing to do for it. And i've done nothing all semester either. But my group doesn't care? idk if I should just ride this out  :P

I recognised a lot of people graduating with me yesterday as completely inadequate yet our uni is very well respected in industry. I think what industry cares more about is the individual showing good grades (Ps get degrees but not jobs...), having good extra curricular experience, and knowing how to not look like an idiot when applying for a job. At least, that's how it is in my experience.

not sure I agree, I have got jobs without even sending in my marks. I have my GPA on my resume but i think people just saw i had a degree from XX university. depends on field of course.

But I would love to have an option in Australia where its really hard to even get a pass grade.

I can agree with that. But, again, at the same time, I enjoyed being able to party and not stress.

Except that it is getting less and less respected. My degree in particular is recognised as a Masters degree in Europe, however only until 2018 due to the whole Melbourne Model destroying our education.
Long story short:
- International students see masters in two years from one of Australias best uni, awesome! Pay full fee upfront = lots of cash for melb uni
- Monash is like boy oh boy wowee we want in on this. Let us make postgraduate courses and charge lots for international kids
- In order to get accredited post grade courses, it has to be harder than undergrad
- How do they do this when some courses (like mine) are already on the same level as some Masters courses in Europe? Dumb down the undergrad...

It's all about the $$$$$$$$$ and not about the education

This is only just happening now, give it a few years and we will see how respected our Monash uni graduates are

thats fair enough, my masters was super intensive and was struggling to pass, largely because my undergrad was so chill.

I reckon i could have done my 3 year degree in 2 years if it was more intensive.

the other thing is tutors often have to spend more time helping others catch up then actually teaching those grasping the info. I know thats being abit elitist but rather then doing say micro 1 with 1000 students there could be an advanced micro 1 with only like 100.
