God reading all this has made me glad I never have to do high school maths again, absolutely hated it (still did pretty well though until year 12, As in year 8-10 Bs in year 11 then Ds in year 12 because I was punching above my weight in the highest class and didn't have the work ethic to get better). Trig calc geometry no more!

I relatively like and am hell good at simple numbers tho, scored a 48 on the Wonderlic which is just 50 relatively simple number-based questions in 12 minutes, indicating an IQ of 156 which is alright I guess :P

On another note, my English teacher is a complete spud. Beyond retarded. I wish I could point out everything he does wrong, but I just know he would hate me for it and I don't exactly want someone that hates me marking my SAC's.

I think he's been incredibly biased when marking our oral presentations though. Really tempted to have a chat to him about it, although not sure it would be the best idea....

Don't do it. I did it and suffered. Ended up getting SACs externally marked but the teacher still has a lot of control over the mark she gives and the best anyway can do if your teacher screws you over, is increase your mark by a single letter grade.

Since your SACS are worth 50% of your English grade, it helps a lot sucking up to your teacher and not pissing them off

What did you do to get your SAC's externally marked  :o Sounds pretty extreme haha never heard of that before

Yeh I wasn't going to go too overboard with it. Just would've pointed out that I did this this and this, this other guy did that and completely stuffed up this, how did he end up with a higher mark? And coincidentally, why do you also spend time with him after school? (Probably wouldn't say the last bit but it irks me to no end - Teachers and students surely shouldn't have relationships like that? Platonic obviously)

I pointed out that I got a 5 and a very weak student got a perfect 10 and that I had included everything that she had and more. So my teacher took my paper (I followed) into another english teachers class room, read out the intro to her and after every sentence would say what was wrong with it, followed by "dont you agree mrs x" so that the other teacher was forced to agree. Then when she finished her whole charade, I told her that I had directly copied the opening paragraph of a student who got 50 last year and the premier award for english...she stuck by what she said but then it went under a formal review and we got them externally marked. The damage was done though because she had marked 3 of my SACS and I had received near the lowest grade (which made no sense whatsoever). When my GAT results came back and said I got a mark of 48 for English, I got a call from VCAT (is that their name?) asking why my SACS were low compared for my GAT. I explained the situation and they said they could only just raise my mark by one letter grade as that was the max they could do and that was that.

Basically don't piss them off because they still have power at the end of the day :s

PS Our class got one of the lowest average english score my school has ever had... I wonder why!

Did you take a selfie with her while she was sleeping? :P

Raunchy :P.

That sounds pretty extreme indeed Spite :o. But yeah, better to stay safe and not piss off the person marking your papers. Given I was nice and a good student but still averaged like Cs in my Sacs for English in VCE cause I had a tougher marker than other classes, not many of our class got As for them. Come exam time guess the harsh marking worked, but as Spite said, it can only boost your internals by so much (A+ on exam boosted my C-grade Sacs to B+ iirc). So better not to try and correct your teacher/marker if you think it may hinder your future Sac results.

Btw, did anybody ever bring you up on plagarism Spite since you said you copied the introduction yourself on a Sac?

The above HP sounds like my Year 9 maths class in 2006 - my last year in Melbourne.

My form teacher was also my Maths teacher. He was probably one of the best teachers I had. The majority of the rest of the class couldn't give a shower about being at the school, so when I needed help I got quite a bit of assistance and he loved his footy so we always chatted about that.

Anyway most of the rest of the class who couldn't give a shower failed and I got academic excellence.

Treat your teachers with respect (even if you hate them) and they will give you better marks and treat you with respect.

Easiest way to go about it is to have the chat with the teacher and just ask how you can improve your grade. Just ask them for some feedback, there is no harm in that.

I don't think I had ever heard of plagarism before uni. Most private schools pretty much "give" us essays to learn off by heart and we basically re produce them in the exam to get a good grade. #education

Hahaha, awesome AK! Yeah some teachers were great back in high school and were happy to help and chat. Although I treated teachers with respect, but sometimes didn't reflect in my marks (Straight C student for first 3 years, probably because my attendance was like below 67% a year).

Lucky, explains the high grades :P. We sometimes got brought up on it in Sacs and assignments and all in our school, albeit not often.

Yeah, exactly. I knew plagiarism was a thing, but high school never cared for it.
