It depends on if wind resistance is a factor
Yeah we never did wind resistance in year 12 Physics

I only did physics in year 11, we did some of this stuff in year 12 during maths. They never really count for wind resistance at a high school level. A question like this though it wouldn't surprise me if they did

Physics question - When a car decreases its speed, it loses momentum. But if all momentum is conserved (Law of conservation of momentum), where does this momentum go?
I could be wrong, but I think that if the car is just decreasing in speed without interacting with other objects, then momentum is lost. Whereas if it were to hit a stationary object, then the momentum of both objects after the collision would be equal to the momentum of the car before the collision

i.e. Conservation of momentum only applies when there are 2 or more objects in the system?

I think you're right. Looking at it again - I wrote "as the car comes to a stop" - maybe I had to write "as the velocity of the car decreases"?

It's a typical two body problem where the first body is the car and the second is the Earth.

p = mv so conservation of momentum is that m1v1 + m2v2 must be conserved.

The car's mass is practically zero compared to the Earth's mass so you can say that the Earth increased its velocity by "practically zero" while the car slowed down. Of course, there are billions of these moments happening at the same time on Earth and there are so many other factors considered that there really is, in the grand scheme of things, no effect on the planet. Still, momentum is technically conserved.

seems to be a summary of high school and uni assessments. Nothing for a month then 4 essays and 2 tests in a week.

And by nothing for a month, you mean having an assignment but not doing it for the entire month until there's less than a week until it's due and having 3 other assessments due in the same week, yeah? Or is that just me :-X

Pretty much.

Although to be fair I also had assignments due on the 24th and 26th. Just a flowering hectic season. Might see if I can ask for an extension on my Lit assignment that's going a little less than swimmingly thus far.

Starting assignments before there's a week until it's due is a complete waste of time. I actually can't find any motivation to do something very early and get writer's block, but when I'm working overnight on deadline day I can pump it out fast and of good quality.
