flower references!
I've got an essay to do for Drama due this coming Monday (haven't started yet lel) where I'm gonna have to use journals and shower for referencing and whatnot. flower that. I'll just bullshower my way through the whole thing and say I didn't need references.  :P

I pumped out 3000 words + an executive summary + showerload of referencing in 5 hours yesterday. Had 9 minutes to spare before deadline #youcandoit #believe

I still only somewhat understand the question. Might seek some clarification tomorrow.

Got the result of my first assignment for the year back, got 65%. Pretty happy with that considering it was a drama performance and I was crook for four days prior and still not feeling 100% on the day.  :)

Referencing is easy. Just do it as you go use each one rather than waiting to the end and taking ages writing them all out. If you submit a paper without references you're not going to do very well.

Thanks Captain.  :P

I probably referenced (or tried to reference) two assignments last year, pretty sure I didn't do it right on either. I just submitted the rest without it and scraped through with passes.  :-X

My mate linked me a website that once that helped do the referencing for you, might have to ask him for it again.

Just don't get me started on using journals though, hate those things with a passion.

Not sure if they have them at you uni, but at usyd they have library classes that will teach you have to reference correctly in whatever format they are asking for, which is generally Harvard, but if doing psych would be APA. Those classes also teach you how to effectively find correct books/journals etc. I would recommend attending one if you are struggling with how to reference.

Additionally there is a program called endnote which can do your references for you. We can download it for free at usyd and I reckon at most big uni's you can.

We had one in class last year during one of my first semester tutes.

This class was at 5pm though and I'd been at Uni from 8:30am that day.

I've read the Student Handbook/Guide thingo which has a bit and I've Googled it.

I think that the fact that I've had this preconceived idea that referencing is one of the most horrible and annoying things in the world doesn't help though.  :P

+1! Easy to save marks by doing it haha, just need to stay on top of it as you go ;)

isn't there an app that does it for you? or was that false hope :(

Doing an essay (yes, I've started ;D) that's 1500 words.

Trying to break it down as best as I can.

Gotta compare, contrast and evaluate two things.

Would it be best to break it down in to say three paragraphs? One for comparing, one for contrasting and one for evaluating?

Used to actually be decent at essays, but I'm struggling atm.  :(

Got 150 words of an intro done (probably need to add about 50 words more of stuff).

Usually use 1 paragraph per idea, so can have 3 main sections like you said, but may have like 2-3 mini paragraphs within them to cover the points. The breakdown seems spot on though!

I can usually crack out an essay in a night if I tried and have resources, just have to get use to writing them and know the formatting and have a flow to the piece. Once you get the flow down as well as covering the main points and essay question, you'll be fine :).

I've got a 10 minute oral to write up before Thursday (as due Thursday), then a 2000 word essay (worth 40% of my mark) due the following Tuesday which should be easy enough once I start it. I just need to find resources and read through them, that's the time consuming bit. Easy bit is writing it all up and bsing the oral :P.

Gonna try to dress formal (or suit up if I can find a blazer) on Thursday for the oral since for an Economics subject :P.

I found if you do 50% of your assignment quickly and early on(better said then done) it's all downhill from then and it's soooo much easier
