Trying to find a space to study is tough too. I just spent 5 minutes on one floor of the library and eventually found this one spare desk. Trouble is, I think I'm lost now, all I see is row upon row of books.

Haha, the library is a nightmare. People just park themselves there to sleep or even socialise. I barely explored the library for the first year and a half hahaha, just stayed in one section.

I've been in the library like 3 times, currently in my third year haha

But you do like computer stuff and have a car which can get you home in like 15 mins, you have no reason to be in the library haha.

Jukes

I'm in the library/elab like 90% of the time I'm on campus

So often I'll get to uni and be like nah cbf going to the lecture so I'll buy some chips and gravy and read the lecture notes then flower around

But later on it's good because I can actually buckle down and do some assignments on campus without the stresses of everything I have at home *cough cough* video games *cough cough*

So one of the other classes average for the non calc methods test we just did was 6/30

How is it even possible to have a class average of 20%

He's been at the school for a while so I doubt it, starting to make me think that those kinds of results are normal  :o

Apparently he told his class at the start of the year that "no one in here will get a study score above 35"

Having shower students for one class doesn't make a bad teacher
Like I got a D in year 12 maths (took the hardest class) with exam scores of 27, 38 and 40 but I don't blame my teacher at all, it was my fault for punching above my weight then not trying to get better. He was a good bloke too.

Similarly, in year 10 science we had one test where I scored 40% and was 5th in the class, felt good.

Last year in maths my friend got an A for the knowledge and understanding part of the test and a D for the Thinking and Reasoning part. That D was the highest mark anyone got in that class for that part of the test. Teacher got sacked apparently the next term (Think it was for perving on a year 8 girl though).

20% is a fail though, and requires a resit? Surely that raises the alarm, that nearly everyone in the class will have to resit, so you begin to question the teacher and his methods?

If he's saying nobody will get above 35, what does that tell you? Why are your methods exams so tough then?

Depends on the subject I think? When I did Spesh, I don't recall anyone having to resit a SAC, and there were a lot of people who got <40% on SACs :P

Don't think anyone will be re-sitting it

Wasn't a hard test either - So apparently results like that are normal? Just seems odd

It sounds like he got the dud class and knows it. A 35 unscaled is not that difficult in Methods. I completely missed a 20 mark question on my exam and still got a 36

They won't resit, it just means they will have a really crappy mark come the end of the year on the SAC portion of their enter score which only makes up a small percentage in Methods anyway.

Yup, same here, when I did spesh a few got under 40% but it takes into calculation all your SACS (which also make up a small portion of the mark) at the end of the year. It also grades on a curve, if everyone gets 20% then 20% becomes the high mark of the class, it is pretty stupid but being in the hopeless class has it's advantages

I also have a story on a dud teacher regarding methods that got sacked not long after

I pretty much aced my maths tests and exams in year 10, I think my average mark was mid 90's. It was mandatory in year 11 to do both General Maths and Methods, especially if you intended on doing Specialist in year 12 but I was granted an exception because my teacher thought I didn't need it.

So now in year 11 I am doing Methods with a new teacher. She goes on holidays pretty early in the year and we have an average teacher to start the term. 1 of the tests with him teaching I got 100 on the test and the other was also pretty good. The teacher that was supposed to be taking the class comes back and she is all over the place. She doesn't explain things, when we ask questions she would say "I already explained that" not go over anything again and was useless when asking for help. I was generally able to teach myself reading the book but once you got to certain sacks it became difficult when you were unsure how to actually apply what you were reading. My test marks were generally 80's so they were still pretty good

We took a SAC just before mid year parent teacher interviews. I was away for a music comp for 3 days as they were going down, I get back and hear that it almost ended in a huge argument. My dad got there early and could hear sort of what was going on with all the previous interviews. My teacher was giving the same speech to every parent, "X shouldn't be doing methods, they aren't good enough to be in the class, they should consider not doing maths next year, blah blah blah." It came to the interview about me and she started doing the same thing, she showed him my last SAC which was a 60% and told him I was failing the class. My parents were ready to call her a f'ing idiot and walk out of there because she had no idea what the F is going on. The 60% was actually one of the better scores in the class and all my other tests were over 80%. When I got back my parents asked me what was going on and if I knew if I was failing. I told them that was BS and my parents ended up complaining to the school because she was ripping into students that were actually doing fine. It turns out they weren't the only ones

It gets to the end of the year, my marks are still generally good, I end up getting a tutor since she didn't explain crap and generally found most of the class was her arguing with students. 12 months later she isn't at the school anymore

So I had to submit my forms for a prac placement for uni on the 16th (a Monday)
Was going to ring up places on the Friday before, but was told on the Thursday that we were given a 2-week extension
So I still haven't done anything about it, probably should ring today...nah I'll probs wait until Friday

Now this is procrastination
