I did! I couldn't recommend it more highly! Much more enjoyable than English (particularly if you have a scientific or explorative mind). Ended up being the reason I picked up a linguistics diploma after my first year of uni because I missed it so much.

I don't really have that 'flair' in my writing that you need to get A+'s or even A's consistently (in core english) - I had a look at a friend's Language essays though and it looks more 'content-driven' in that you can do well just by knowing the content really well. Also seemed much more interesting. Am I on target?

My school doesn't offer English Language. :(

But I enjoy normal English so I don't mind.

Still need really strong writing skills to ace those essays but you're right in that it's more content driven. You won't get 30/30 (I think they're still marked out of 30) in an essay without very strong writing skills but you can still get those 25s. I'm a bit of an academic super nerd and I only got one 30 for the whole year (in our externally marked practice exams, mind you!) but I felt really good in the exam so might have got close in that too.

Sorry, but what is English Language? I think it'd be like Literature here but idk

Scrads

Just submitted an assignment 1 minute and 45 seconds before the deadline. Phew!

Still have 2 assignments and 1 exam remaining this semester!

Nah. The opposite of literature... It's linguistics.

Ok so had an online exam today, and the worst possible thing happened to one of the guys sitting the exam in the same room as me.

So, it was 50% short answer quiz, 50% XML stuff. The quiz was located at the front page of the monash moodle website, where you just click your assessments and it kinda drops down the stuff you have to do. However, the XML shower was in the specific page of that unit. It took me a few moments to actually find it.

At the end of the exam, this kid goes "Well, that wasn't too bad actually. I reckon I did pretty well."
My mate: "Oh really? How'd you find the XML questions?"
Him: "XML? What XML?"
Mate: "You know, where we had to design the XSL file"
Him: "What. What are you talking about? Wasn't it just the quiz?"
Mate: "Nah man, there was XML as well!"
Him: "...well, I failed........flower."

I felt so bad for him, he's gonna need to basically ace the short answer stuff now.
