A number means nothing, you make your own history in the jumper you wear imo

Number 9 does suit Cotch. I really don't mind either way, just so long as 17 is "retired" unless the next captain wants it.

If Cotch really wants to keep 9, then I guess they can't force him. They may as well retire the number to honour Dyer unless whoever succeeds Cotch wants it.
