When will Carlton learn you cannot sack A grade forwards and be left with only one old injury prone key forward and expect to win flags! And they traded Kennedy :P

Maybe a Stringer or a Membrey is a must in the draft?
so tell me how that "A Grade Forward" panned out for the next team :-X

coming from the club that has "a gentlemen's agreement" which will see them get a bunch of tattoo's and an average pick ??? instead of whatever the Suns would have kicked in is just a bit rich imo :P

The blues have at least 2 very good tall fwd options. Depending on further development over the preseason they could have 3 or 4 solid options.

The small crumbers need to add consistancy and they need to play robbo and another like him off the wing/ half fwd and they are in good shape fwd...

THey have plenty of midfielders so I would play robbo and simpson wing/half fwd. 2 talls who are decent in waite and Walker with collins who may come on as i siad with another preseason....

I don't think is a bad fwd line myself.

LFP: E Betts   FF: J Waite    RFP: J Garlett

LHF: K Simpson   CHF: A Walker  RHF: M Robinson

Will Malthouse help the Blues get back in the 8??
yes easily, don't forget the Blues were flying and premiership favourites at one point during the year

So was Essendon but nobody seems to think we're going to make the top 8. :P

I love a bit of pre-season comedy.

I am willing to bet anything the Blues will make the 8 this season under Malthouse.

Changing a teams game plan culture and skills as well as fitness attitude intent all takes time, maybe a bit ambitious for them to shoot for top 4 and or a flag next season....

but they will be SIGNIFICANTLY better under Malthouse.

They have one of the BEST lists in the competition and ample facilities to work with....

Should be a serious contender in 2013 and if they hold the list together for 2014 a premiership favorite even...

You might think this sounds harsh but if the objective last season was top 4 and Ratten lost his job because they did not achieve that, the next step up from a top 4 finish is a Grand Final appearance. The board obviously thought the list was top 4 caliber. If they don't make a Grand Final the move to change coaches should be considered a failure as Malthouse is supposed to be the guy to take Carlton to a Grand Final.

Realistically I will be surprised if they make the Grand Final. Hawks and Swans were the two best teams last season and they just got better, Eagles get a bunch of players back that were injured this year, they should be better. I was not happy with the way they went about the Ratten situation and I still think Malthouse is not the right coach for Carlton. The club needs a complete overhaul in terms of culture. They should have held on to Ratten this season, see what he could do with a healthy list as he managed to work miracles in some of the games towards the end of last season with the junk he had on the field. If it did not work out they should have gone hard after Paul Roos who would be available to coach. The Blues need a culture like the Swans. The Sydney players are willing to sacrifice their own games for the better of the team which Carlton does not do.
