Angus has finally landed at home this off-season after years of rumours that he wanted to head back to South Australia. This might see him emerge as a viable fantasy pick in 2013. I think there is definitely a spot for him in the PA midfield, and this might see him be the become the next Brad Ebert.
That being said there is a lot of competition for the mid-priced/cheap forward options in 2012. LeCras, Nicoski, Winderlich, Gray, Rohan, JJK the list goes on...

So the big question is whether he offers more value than those players. If he gets the opportunity to play 90% mid time I think he coule easily average more than every single one of the names above, the risk being should he get stuck up forward he'll likely average the least of the lot.

He's in for now...I'll be keeping a very close eye on how he's used during the NAB Cup though. It won't take much for me to get scared off.

Prediction: +22 98

Speculator

Monfries is an interesting one. Has never been a premium and predicting breakout seasons is tremendously difficult. However change of clubs can do wonders for some players and Hinkley did say to the media that he would have more midfield time than he did a Essendon. Having said that he is playing for a woeful team and I just can't see him rising to keeper status (95+ average) just yet. He is very durable though which is a big plus. Watchlist at the moment but he would need to have a huge preseason to get into my team at that price with the competition for forward spots very fierce next year.

Jroo

Someone who could be a good mid pricer. Should get more midfield time with Port

Thanks for the write up Sid.
Risky pick but will certainly keep an eye out in nab cup.
Never seen him play to his true potential playing as a small forward at Essendon but I have the feeling he has more to offer than he's shown.

Adamant

Reckon he can definitely push 90+ at Port with increased mid time! watchlist for sure.

Kicked 3 for the Power in London, so good start by Gus

Decent, although I wouldn't look into that to much

Hagebear

Yeh fact is he should score a little better being at Port and hopefully getting a bit more midfield time but in saying that he's still playing for Port and I will be staying well away from him at that price.

Rowy

Now Gray is not available at start of season, i think this can play the same role for Port. He will be a LOCK in my team now.

Kellogscrunchynut

Usually a player that I never even give a glance to in fantasy, however if he can become a prolific player for Port he may well be the next Brad Ebert.

Bones Bombers

Watched some of the London game and he seems to have fitted in nicely. Played up the ground a fair way and then when playing forward got to the right spots.
May be a good pick, never had him when at Essendon.

You can watch a full replay on Ports website and the Bulldogs as well I think.

Ive said this before, Ill say it again here though. I would warn anyone off taking anything from this game. The level of football and desire would have been played at half the level even a nab cup game is played at. In fact it was likely staged for a grandstand finish to make the game more enjoyable for the patrons.
It really means next to nothing. A player having 40 possesions and 5 goals versus a player having 1 kick still leaves them on the same level come round 1 imo

True Quinny, have you watched it yet?
Monfries was showing his new club what he can do for them. He played through the middle a fair bit and one minute he was kicking the ball out of half back and the next he was competing in the forward line. Didn't do himself any harm getting the role he wants through the middle of the ground.
There were a few players missing for Port, such as Boak, but if he can play that role consistently in the NAB cup he will be one to watch.
There also aren't any other games to go by at this time of year!

Also Koby Stevens didn't impress me that much. He laid some hard tackles and tried a bit but looked a little lost at times with the new team. Didn't get much of a go with the Eagles.
