GEELONG star Jimmy Bartel is set to continue in his 'swingman' role in 2013 as the club ushers younger players into its midfield.

"It's the same for the Joel Corey and James Kelly-type players. They'll have to limit their time at little bit in the midfield, I think."

Bartel and co will be replaced in the middle of the ground by talented youngsters including Mitch Duncan, Allen Christensen, Taylor Hunt and Jordan Murdoch.

Could be some nice pickups for DT depending on prices for next season.I`m meaning the younger players.

Got Bartel into my team this year thinking what a bargain, brownlow medalist, 27 years of age and probably in the prime of his career but saw throughout the year he just plays too many different positions to be considered a midfield premium anymore..  :-\

Mr.Craig

I think Duncan is a bit undervalued. Averaged 81.6 for the season but 88.5 through his last 8 games and will continue to get better. Just a shame he's not a forward. :(

Christenson worth another look now. We all know what he's capable if and with more midfield time could be a bargain? Hopefully he keeps his DPP.

Can see Christo going 85+ next year, but no way as a pure mid.

Chrissos Asian stocks just rose immensely ;)
Depends whether he keeps DPP or not :P

That`s it Chrisso needs to keep DPP to be considered if he is pure mid there are plently of cheaper players that will average similar.

Murdoch too could be worth a look, as could Stringer. Christensen is locked for me (for the second year in a row  ::)) if he maintains DPP which he should imo.

I don't think this will just hurt guys like Bartel, Corey and Kelly but think of the other guys such as Chapman and Johnson they could spend less time in the midfield as well.
This could have a major impact on their DT scores it could drop a bit not getting a lot of the ball as they spend more and more time up forward. Or it could mean quite the opposite an improvement on their averages could see them kicking more goals and not be hit with their niggling inures and hamstring tightness (I.E Chapman)

Chappys hamstrings are probably a bad example as they could tighten up while feeding his fish very unpredictable.

Geelong is running a retirement home by the look of it..

Yeh especially Johnson who spent a lot of time in the midfield this year. I can see him dropping off a fair bit tbh
