I agree that Mundy probably represents the best value, particularly with Fremantle on the improve.  Danger pick is Murphy as I think that next year, with Judd slowing down, he will pick up the Judd tag, and I don't think Murphy has handled tags all that well in the past.

Valid point, I am a little wary of this factor.

I cant believe only 1 person has voted swan out of 27 votes! People just dont like starting with swanny

I think its because I know i only start with 2 captain choices. ABlett Swan and Pendles are your choices for me. Ablett the best SCer and Pendles better value than swanny.

Id like to be able to start with Gaj, Swan, Pendles and Cotch but i doubt the bank ballance will allow it.
Last 4 years ive started with Gaj and Swan (Cpt sorted) but next year possibly Swan or Pendles will
have to be down the track in 2013 and make way for Mundy to start so i can use the money else where.
To early to call for me and alot of water to go under the bridge between now and DT opening up again.

Bones Bombers

Ablett, Swan, Pendles and Cotchin for me next season.
Ran low on trades this year and didn't have Swan at any point of the season. Think I'll just start with the best and save needing to trade them in.
Hoping Embley/Ball can make some cash for an easy upgrade too.
The best midfielders should still be the best so I will be looking for upgrades to the best performing forwards as I think that will be hardest to pick next year. Will be starting a cheaper forward line.

bunyips

Last year i started with Ablett, Swan, Sellwood, and Swallow.

Next year i think i'll start with Ablett, Pendles, Cotchin, and Kennedy .... hopefully the last two can maintain what they did this season!

I'm tempted to start with Murphy but as people have said - he can get shut down at times.

I'll look to bring in players like Swallow (super consistant),  Watson, or Sawn.

This might be the first time that I haven't started with Swan. Everyone thinks Ball will push Beams out of the mids. I can see Swannie spending more time forward than Beams does next year.

At the moment I've got Ablett/Swallow/Griffen/Mundy

Ajax22

Ablett - Pendles - Cotchin - Mundy at this stage. Will be keeping an eye on Swallow, Jack and Griffen though

Exactly mate, gotta start with the best. I'm definitely starting with Ablett, Swan and Pendles. Not sure on the 4th spot tho

For those not starting with Swan or Ablett because they're too expensive, when do you expect to upgrade to them?
It took until Rd 16 for Ablett to drop to 600k this year

Thats the drama with waiting to pick them up when they drop value, if they do happen to drop early you havent had time to get the cash together and up they go again or its later in the season when the drop comes and when they do drop its not always enough to make it an easy swap to them. The lack of a new team starting up in 2013 ala GWS will make it harder as the rookies will be thinner on the ground and a double Gun Ruck combination may be required in 2013 unless another Smth (2011) or Giles (2012) pops up. Wont be easy to fit the four gun midfield Gaj, Pendles, Swan and another in but i'll be working hard to try to do it.

Ablett, Pendles, Cotchin and Murphy/Mundy for me.

As I suspected it is the players that I thought were going to be extremely popular.

1.Cotchin (37 votes)
=Ablett
2.Pendlebury(34 votes)
3.Murphy (22 votes)
4. Kennedy (8 votes)
5.Swan (6 votes)
=Dangerfield

Ablett...first picked
Pendles...ultra consistent/ second picked
Watson...didn't have in 2012 and wish I did...few at Essendon to take points off him.
JSelwood...have had in each of last 5 years and not about to change in 2013.... very consistent.

Looking at those names and Mundy....seriously undervalued

this was the first bloke that sprung to my mind next year too. mundy has a good pre season he could go a 115 average and he is priced around 90 average!!??

and also if hodge gets his fitness back and gets over those niggles, big chance for my team as well especially if they give him dpp. but even as a pure mid, fully fit and i'd almost lock him in now.

i've always gone for the expensive premos in the mids as starters, i'm going for value all they way next year, but so far the mids i like for next season based on the fan planner are, gaj (c), JPK, Murphy, Mundy, hodge, ball, salopek( if fit)

quinny88

I thought Mundy was my bloody sneaky uniques now everyones talking about him :( haha

Footyrulz

im def getting gazza. thinking of getting beams cause he was the second best player in the second half of the year. murph is almost a lock and either priddis or mundy are also good value.
