In terms of shows that are currently active

True Detective is only 5 episodes in so far and is absolutely incredible! I highly recommend it, and the ratings already are extremely high (4th overall on IMDB)

GOT obviously, cant wait for S4 to begin, and I cant wait for Suits and Sons of Anarchy to return for its final season

From a comedy perspective I cant get enough of Brooklyn Nine Nine - so funny!

I don't watch too many movies, purely a TV series lover, and for overall The Sopranos, Breaking Bad, Six Feet Under, The Wire and Oz would round out my Top 5, but shows like GOT, SoA, True Detective and Prison Break (Yes it dragged on but I still loved it) would all be up there

Scrubs and Seinfeld hands down best comedies, but also love Brooklyn, Big Bang, old 2.5 Men, HIMYM and the occasional Modern Family

Brooklyn Nine Nine has gotten better as the season went on.
2.5 men is one of the most unfunny shows around. absolutely hated it.

True Detective started off really slow but has picked up in the action. Great show.

and thanks for the advice on House of Cards.  really enjoying it.

RE: Brooklyn Nine Nine I totally agree, but with any new show it always takes a bit of time to get going, the first few shows are just about getting to understand the characters tendencies, relationships, roles etc

The first 3 eps of True Detective where very methodical, calculated and detailed, which can come across as slow but your right, since ep 4 things are in full motion now

As for 2.5 Men, it always splits opinions :)

Sitcoms always split opinions because we all have different opinions of what we find funny. I love it, but you might not, but then you might find another show hilarious and I wont like it. This always happens with sitcoms

Dramas are universally easier to rate, its either an incredible story with great acting/plots/camera work etc or its not :)

LOL fair enough, its easily in my top 10 worst TV shows of all time.
the jokes are cheesy and forced, and none of the jokes are clever, its like "lets put all the most obvious, sexualised, low brow jokes and get a douchebag to say them".

GRRRR  >:(  >:(  >:( HATE IT, wait hate is not a strong enough word, i LOATHE it.

it is amazing, love the acting, the story is great, and the characters are truly great.
moves at a slow pace, but its not a show that can be rushed, there's so many things going on that it has to take its time.

so many great shows coming back.
