Just my opinion but it is just looking like no one wants the job.
Is it they are not being offered a good deal or what?
Leon Cameron was apparently going to get the job then next minute he is up at GWS talking to them.
Don't they need to get it sorted before the draft?
And they are now starting to lose players to other clubs.
Any Power fans or anyone have any ideas/opinions.

soooo boned.

I'll write in and offer to coach.

JBs-Hawks

Reckon it because it's a dead end job/coach killer and  no one wants to go down with it.

will have to be an untried coach with nothing to lose surely it's not that hard to find someone

Besides the money factor why is Rodney Eade the last man standing? I rate him and would be more than happy with him as a coach if i were a Port supporter... In fact, i kinda liked the idea of him at the crows when we were looking for a coach...

JBs-Hawks

Eade, Ratten and Cameron have all said no.

Dave085

Doesnt sound like he has officially said no to Port...
"Of Eade's public stance on turning away from Port, Thomas said: "Candidates have had their public position - and their private stance."

It doesnt look promising however, especially his stance on how the candidates have been handled...
"Thomas yesterday revisited Eade, who on Sunday night withdrew from the race with a hit on how Port has mishandled candidates. Eade's manager Phil Mullen left Port to deliver a "convincing" sales pitch."

Either way, Port are in serious trouble right now if they were banking on pulling Cameron.

I'd Coach them, though the idiot Demetriou should have given them a priority pick this year for being so bad!

Guys like Hartlett, Ebert, Wingard, Jacobs, Boak, Elite midfield building right there) Pittard, Moore, Trengove, Gray, Butcher, Redden are all very good players
Thats a very good base to start rebuilding from!

And they should get high draft picks again the next two years, they need a Coach who can develop players and Port will be fine

Id like to make a few points about this:

a. Michaelangelo Rucci has a lot of explaining to do. This was going to be one of the major stories before trade week and has caused considerable interest, so as the media do with this kind of story, they run stories on a sniff of fact (if that). The media report something they think they've heard, then recycle it over and over with slight variance until its apparently not fact anymore. They beat the story up and people like Eade, his manager, Keith Thomas, Cameron etc are constantly being asked about something which most of the time, they looked uncomfortable about answering. They push and push and it made the whole process more difficult, no doubt. It was like Chinese whispers.

b. Most of the candidates that were involved in the race, were involved in finals so contrary to belief, the process did not take 9 weeks. The process was severely hampered by McCarthy's death and by those candidates that Port preferred being in finals.

c. Lastly, of course Port is a hot potato, but everyone is beating this coach thing (mostly the media) into something about nothing. Really, I'm happy Hinkley is there. Not just because he took the job but because when Port were looking two years ago, he was one of the major candidates. I wanted him then. Port went with Primus because they thought he was good and the fans loved him. That is why the board have been sacked, that and AFL weren't going to inherit monkeys. He was there when Geelong were rebuilt and he's been at GCS where they have been building a list; he is primed for this job.

I'm just glad you guys have finally got something cos lets be honest this search has been delayed and taken too long, good for SA footy but now you guys have no more excuses... You can do two things - be like Fitzroy and just fall over (merge) or be like Carlton, and become competitive again

Time for improvement now Port, we need two strong teams in SA not just one

Wind back the clock to 2007, Geelong's Premiership year and the beginning of a mini Dynasty of whom most modern teams shall be measured by.

That premiership year involved a coaching panel of Bomber Thompson  :P, Brenton Sanderson  8), Ken Hinkley etc, all heirs apparent - with the exception of Matthew Knights (at Bendigo during 2007).

The new Coach will need to know how to plug holes to stop the sinking ship, or will the new Coach be a muppett at the hand of a national figure like Kochie?

Either way, Demetriou wins.
