What do we want before March

After the heartbreak we need to move on, Of course theres still room for improvement and i would be saying this even if we won the flag
But i wanna see from fellow Hawk fans what they would like to see happen in Free agencey and trades, drafts and pre season training, here are mine

- Recruit a mature big bodied defender, but only if a decent one comes cheap, maybe Lake
- Recruit any player in any postion in trades or free agenecy who would walk striaght into our best 22
- Keep Clinton Young
- Get alot of muscle on to Shoecy and Boumann
- Blood players like Woodward,Hill, Schinder, Duerya and Hallahan promentilty in the NAB with a view to have atleast 1 or 2 playing round 1

Well Woodward is recovering from an ACL and not sure where he stands with that but hopefully gets a full pre season :)

I think keeping Clinton Young is an important one (despite a couple of clangers in the GF).

He's not a big name player but is an important part of our team setup. Proof of this was in the Prelim when he had 5-6 possessions in the first 8-10 minutes and the Crows moved Van Berlo onto him for the majority of the remainder of the game.

Sydney were the worst last year at kicking goals, something happened this year though

I want us to recruit a young in an under midfielder like Caddy or Stevens so when Mitchell and Sewell retire which unfortunately won't be too far away we will have some guys ready to pick up the slack. Bulking up Schoenmakers is absolutely a must. Woodward is apparently an absolute gun so would love to see him playing NAB cup if he could. Don't think we really need to recruit any gun players from other clubs, but if we could get Lake for not much it would be great. There are rumours about Mitch Brown from West Coast leaving and I really like the look of him, but he's not a free agent and I think he may even be contracted. I agree we should try and keep Young.

disagree with this, think we have to back Schoey to bulk up a bit more and naturally improve and take another step next year.

disagree with this also, who needs replacing in our best 22 ? There isn't much on the market unless we went after Tippett, Cloke etc but no way do we have enough money for that.

Yes to Schoey, but I have heard that Boumann is actually on the way out apparently he betrayed the playign groups trust or something idk bu I have heard he is gone

Woodward, Schneider and Hallahan are the key ones here. We need up and coming inside mids ASAP. Its hard to see Josh Kennedy doing so well at Sydney because he will be exactly what we need in a year or two. I think Duryea might also be on his way out.

And the only other thing I would add is I hope we keep and use our top draft pick (21, but we be later after free agency compensation) because we haven't actually picked a high draft pick teenager since Schoenmakers (2008) and Rioli (2007).

Get Woodward to shadow Mitchell's every move. As has been said we need to (very sadly) start thinking about a point in time when Mitchell, Sewell and Hodge wont be around. I am not an expert on our young kids, but I have heard big raps on Woodward.

We need to learn how to kick straight, a lot of our misses come down to mental toughness in tight matches. This must be improved. Maybe Gunston should hold a kicking class after training?

I believe our list is the most talented one going around (possible bias), not much needs to be added or changed to it. We only lost by 10 points in a game that really could have gone either way. Hardly a case for alarm bells.

My biggest concern is our ageing midfield. I shudder at the thought of a Hawthorn midfield without Mitchell or Sewell.

On a side note, before March I want a gold statue of Sewell placed somewhere, or something done to honour that man. He is a colossus.

I feel sorry for him though, he really cracked under pressure bad in the gf when he hit that post (gunston).
