QuoteViney, 18, is believed to have been interviewed by Gold Coast football staff last week when he was told the young outfit would take him with their first choice and pick number two in the draft just behind Greater Western Sydney’s first selection.

I am not a fan of the writer of this article (Kim HACKdorn) but if this is true then that means Melb have to use pick #3 on Viney.

13Brummy

As they should - I think he is worth that

Sigh, was hoping for a big bargain there.........

I suppose its not all bad, its not like Viney is a spud, HE IS A GUN!

But he isnt a pick#3

I thought Melbourne had said they would pick the best available at 3 and if that meant missing out on Viney then so be it...

JBs-Hawks

Why would gc make a pitch when he will just do a caddy.

And I certainly wouldnt blame them for not picking Viney, would be a little proud actually, because that means he wasn't worth a top 3 pick meaning GC payed too high a price

So do Dees supporters think he isnt worth the 3??

Well, I think Viney is the best inside midfielder of this draft. So it really depends on the clubs needs that determines how high Viney should go. GC for example, have lost their most promising inside mid in Caddy, also Hayden Jolly seems to be going elsewhere. So they would rate Viney quite highly, Pick 2 for instance. Whereas I think Melb need outside mids that have polish and skill. Jones, Trenners, Gysberts...... we mainly have inside mids.

So overall, I think Viney isnt worth pick 3 IMO

If Gysberts leaves would this change your mind?

the demons need an outside mid with plenty of run they have to many inside mids and viney is just that :)
