Thoughts

Well, as an Essendon supporter I couldn't resist doing this profile! The newest Don will remain one of the most obvious premium defender picks in 2013, and fresh start at a new club may be the kick start he needs to return to his previous SC heights.

It's no secret that Brendon is well liked by the guys over at CD, with SuperCoach always being his favoured game, a good look at more midfield minutes in a shaky Bombers centreline could give him a massive average boost. Inside 50s, effective kicks, score assists - every serious SCer knows these are some of the key stats for this game and each of them present massive scoring opportunities for Brendon. Expect more consistency in his positioning on the field to result in more consistent scores on your Super Coach field as well.

Of course this is a risk/reward scenario, there is every chance BJ won't settle in at his new club and could flunk a 90 average which is obviously not the ideal result for a guy pushing a 550k starting salary.

Verdict

He has always been one of the first names you look at when building your defence, and I expect it to remain so in 2013. Look to the NAB Cup to get some hints as to what his role might be at the Dons in 2013.

Prediction

109 for me. I think he's almost certain to maintain at least a triple figure average.

Sliam

I guess you gotta see what hird or nab says about his role at the club but he seems pretty likely.

lol I autolock him in every year regardless

Kellogscrunchynut

Been one of the best backline choices for years now and that's not going to change.

quinny88

Yep certainly a lock.
Will likely become the #1 defender again now that Deledio will be a mid

Hird said in the press conference that he'll have a job in their midfield. Hoefully that doesnt mean his DPP status is dropped. That will make the decision A LOT harder.  :-\

This will have no bearing on it at all mate. Positions of players are decided based on the previous season. He'll deffinetly be Dpp again

I'd be interested to hear people's thoughts on Stanton now that Goddard is a Bomber. Surely Goddard will attract a tag before Stanton, and with Watson due to to receive more attention from opposition taggers too it could let Stanton off the leash to rack it up.

Thoughts??

I personally think that this will be the case for the start of the year (as always) then teams will say "hey this stanton guy needs to be tagged" and that will be the end of him.. As per usal

Ricochet

Such a lock. Some people are worried about how being at a new club will affect him... he won't drop off, he's a superstar and can actually see him increasing his output significantly

Shihan7

Lock, he will be the highest averaging defender.

I am considering not starting him next year and maybe getting him later on. He frustrated me this year with his little tantrums when shower didnt go his way and also when he got tagged.
