Can we put up draftees or would you like to wait until the draft? also can you please do an article on Sam Reid.

Put up draftees, if they get drafted we will update all the stats combine results, (if they are there safe to say they're getting drafted :) ) and where they go to and all other information as the pre-season progresses.

But happy to start the writeups now and update them as we go. Writeups now are good but a lot more useful when the true price position and nab cup stats are added :)

Hey CrucnchyNut couldnt help but notice your statement below your pic. Do u geniunly think Houli is a good option next season?? His durability is great and can see him avg 85+ next year. In my side atm.

BTW am really looking forward to the write-ups Colli and Noz :)

To be honest picking Houli would be rather risky since he can turn out some bad games and his average actually declined from the previous season by 4 points. But saying that he has the potential to average 85+ and become a great option in defence.

Great to see you guys doing it again this year, you were a great help last year. If you have the time it would be great if you could look at Andrew Moore and Shaun Atley.

What an enigma. Everyone knows Sylvia’s best performances are equal to any of the game’s elite. He kicked 25 goals for the season in 2011, finished 10th in the best and fairest and polled 10 votes in the Brownlow Medal. He has pace, strength, clean hands and can break a game open with his ability to do the unexpected. He also finished second at the club for tackles, led the club in goal assists and was in the top five for possessions playing as a midfielder/forward. But Sylvia needs to perform at a high standard against the good sides and improve his consistency throughout an entire season.

Missed the start of the 2012 season, started slow, finished the season well, looking like the player of old, amassing more than 20 possessions in 9 of the last 11 games, kicking goals in all but 3 of the last 11 including multiples on 3 occasions. Most notable was in 6 of the last 11 games his tackle count was above 5, including a high of 8, showing his work rate drastically increased over the back half of the season, something he will need to maintain from game one in 2013 to be worth consideration. No one wants the lazy Sylvia, but the one that works could be elite. This tendency to drop off and in turn "get dropped" has recently been a facet of his game and makes him a risky pick.

Premium Player Rating FWD/MID) - 7/10 More to come, don't be surprised if he is traded or not, finished the season extremely well after being dropped after his woeful start to the season. No way I would start this guy, pick him up after a bad run finishes and you see a game or two of the "good" Colin Sylvia, but start him at your own peril. Has form at having patchy form. Capable of being a premium and if motivated at Melbourne or given a fresh start elsewhere he could be in for a great season and make a worthy pick, but he could start with 10 games averaging 11 possession a game too.

Rating Based on; Premium Player expectations, form issues, lack of consistency.

Josh Cowan is one that I'm looking forward to seeing from Geelong next year.

Used to go to my school, never seen him play locally but hopefully he can get more opportunities next year.  :)

Not sure if this is a request but by the end of pre-season no doubt someone would have anyway so,

Josh Cowan

#18   Geelong Cats
Age: 21yr 6mth    Games: 3     Born: March 16, 1991
Height: 184cm     Weight: 72kg     Position: Midfield
Last Drafted: Round 4, Pick #56 2009 National Draft
Last Drafted By: Geelong Cats

In 2011, other than his AFL appearances he played 13 VFL games, averaged 23 disposals and 5 inside 50's per match. He only dropped below 19 possessions once. He ranked 3rd at the club for disposals, inside 50's, kicks and uncontested possessions and ranked 4th in clearances. Missed basically all of 2012 with injury in all forms of the game.

Outlook

Broke through in his second year on Geelong’s list to play three senior games, booting a goal on debut in round 10 against the Gold Coast Suns. Has no trouble finding the ball and is best suited on the wing. Might be developed as a running defender as he puts on more bulk.

2012 seaon over article: http://www.thecourier.com.au/story/162168/season-over-for-josh-cowan/

Rookie Player Ratind (DEF/MID) 5.5/10 The boy needs 20kg which may be there after another preseason, showed a bit both in 2011 and earlier in his junior carreer. Missed basically all of 2012 in any form of the game. Will compete with a lot of cats youngsters for spots in the side next season if running off halfback is what he is about, Guthrie, Gillies, Smedts, to name a few but with Enright not far off retirement one or more of these lads needs to be ready to replace him so expect some or all to get more games in 2013.

Rating Based on; Job security, potentially others ahead of him, potentially not AFL ready, Missed a season (2012).

A smooth-moving left-footer who has an ability to mark well overhead and is neat with hand and foot, Mullett was a Vic Metro representative in the 2010 NAB AFL Under-18 Championships.

Not afraid to attempt the spectacular mark, Mullett’s main asset is his ability to penetrate the game with long kicking and carry.

"He’s the first rookie to be upgraded for the 2012 season and Aaron Mullett is deserving of the promotion.

The 20-year old had 13 disposals against Carlton last Sunday and looked comfortable at Visy Park despite playing just three AFL games late last year against Fremantle, St Kilda and Richmond.

The left-footer is exceptionally accurate by foot and is now looking a likely option for Brad Scott against Essendon in round one.

North Melbourne recently put new draftee Tom Curran on the Long Term Injury List which created another spot on its senior list - two possible rookie promotions were therefore available.

Mullett’s encouraging form has now reduced that number to one and the fight for the remaining spot will now intensify."

Late 2012 Article (elevated): http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/148930/default.aspx

Rookie Player Rating (MID) - 7.4/10 Looks a great prospect, just scrape him in for a rookie rating. Job security being the major concern. MAJOR. With Gibson a ready made star, captain and B&F winner at box Hill in 2011 last season for him was not an aberation. Add to that the guns clicking into gear such as cunnington not to mention the regulars and midfield spots at the Roo's will be very very hard to come by. That said he (Mullett) has been elevated to the senior list and is very much in the clubs future plans, possibly a spot on the wing or fwd is on the cards, but how many games he plays remains to be seen. An elite kick and very fast, showed what he can do with a 27 possession game last season, if he looks to become a regular I would say GET ON.

Rating based on; job sucurity / opportunity, Quality player.

Player Interview 2012:  http://www.abc.net.au/local/audio/2012/07/07/3540982.htm

The highly rated defender managed only six games after he was troubled by groin injuries throughout the season. But such is his worth at Alberton that he was re-signed to a contract extension last August. At 189cm, the younger brother of Richmond’s Kelvin has the marking strength to play in a variety of positions and will be looking forward to a big pre-season, free of injury.

Says Ports bio (2011) - Well he missed the first part of the season, and went out with a torn hamstring in August. Injuries definitely seem to follow this guy around. Big potential and a definite starter in their best 22 if he can stay healthy.

Mid Priced Player Rating (DEF/MID) 7.9/10 - Needs a BIG preseason and needs to be healthy, then watch his form in the NAB CUP and with a price tag which should be low level mid pricer, well worth a look as a starter in your DEF. A top ten draft pick he had his best run of regular games, and form last season, played more through the middle and was a tackling machine. Not a huge possession winner but his pressure work was excellent. Port needs him to make the grade should be a lock in their lineup if he can make it through preseason without another injury. Expect a 70-80 average if he isn't the sub every week. A good chance to make an easy $100k while outscoring rooks your opponents will start instead early in the season.

Rating based on; low cost, potential, recent form.
