taylor duryea please?

Taylor Duryea
#41   Hawthorn Hawks
Age: 21yr 9mth    Games: 0     Born: April 24, 1991
Height: 179cm     Weight: 80kg     Position: Midfield
Last Drafted: Round 5, Pick #69 2009 National Draft
Last Drafted By: Hawthorn Hawks
Dream Team Price: $108,500

Prospectus Says: His teammates know his as Dr. Dre but in fantasy land you can "Forget About Dre"

Duryea is a natural-born small forward but he could not break into the Hawthorn side in his second year at the club. He struggled to find the goals in his 12 games with the Box Hill Hawks and then ankle injury brought his season to a premature end. He is currently behind Luke Breust in the pecking order for a game in the senior side and he will have to work hard to move ahead of the 'super-sub'.

Yet to play a senior game with Hawthorn, Duryea suffered an ankle injury last year that saw him struggle to break into the senior side. Coming to the Hawks from the Murray Bushrangers in 2009, the left-footer has been playing with Box Hill in both the seniors and reserves. He was listed as an emergency in the first five rounds of the season but was unable to make the starting 22.

A potent mix of speed and skill, dangerous half forward Duryea fitted the criteria to be taken with Hawthorn’s pick at 69 in the 2009 NAB AFL Draft. Duryea represented NSW/ACT at the 2009 Under 18 NAB AFL Championships, and was a standout for the Murray Bushrangers in the 2009 TAC Cup and as captain of Caulfield Grammar in the APS competition. He enters his third year at the Hawks poised to break into their deep line-up.

Draft history: 2009 NAB AFL Draft 5th round selection (Hawthorn) No. 69 overall.

2008 TAC CUP Video:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gyJYWScQirk

Rookie Player Rating (MID) 4/10 - Watch in nab cup but I do not expect him to feature prominately early or much at all this season, sub candidate if he does, has a good turn of speed and has been developing his skill set in the lower level but breaking into the Hawks midfield may not be possible for a year or two yet. Pass.

Stephen Coniglio
#3   GWS Giants
Age: 19yr 1mth    Games: 12     Born: December 15, 1993
Height: 182cm     Weight: 81kg     Position: Midfield
Last Drafted: Round 1, Pick #2 2011 National Draft

Prospectus Says: Scores will continue to rise this season, watch his pre-season.

Profile & Discussion:  http://www.fanfooty.com.au/forum/index.php/topic,67824.0.html

Stephen Coniglio was selected with pick number two in the 2011 NAB AFL Draft and is one of the clubs most exciting young midfield prospects.

Coniglio made his AFL debut against the Sydney Swans in Round 1 2012.

The fast paced midfielder played twelve games in an impressive inaugural AFL season. He was nominated for the 2012 NAB AFL Rising Star Award after collecting 31 disposals in the club’s historic first win against the Gold Coast SUNS.

Coniglio averaged 21.5 disposals a game in his first AFL season with his best performances coming in Round 7 against the Gold Coast SUNS and in his 27 disposal, one goal haul against Geelong in Round 10.

PREVIOUS PLAYER HISTORY
Stephen Coniglio is a talented 17-year-old sportsman from Greenmount in Western Australia.

Stephen played his junior football for Upper Swan Junior Football Club before joining Swan Districts in the West Australian Football League (WAFL). He made his senior football debut for Swan Districts against Perth in round 22, 2010 at just sixteen years of age.

He racked up 26 possessions and two goals in his first senior football match and gathered seventeen possessions and four goals in the 2010 WAFL Grand Final.

In 2010 and 2011, Stephen represented Western Australia in the NAB Under 18 National Championships and he captained the side in 2011. After a stand out performance in the national carnival Stephen was awarded the Larke Medal for the best player in the tournament, WA’s most valuable player and was named on the wing in the 2011 Under 18 All-Australian side.

In 2011, he was awarded the WAFL Rising Star Award.

Stephen nominated for the 2011 NAB AFL Draft after a promising junior career in both football and cricket with the 17-year-old playing grade cricket in WA.

The GWS GIANTS selected Stephen with the second overall selection in the 2011 NAB AFL Draft.

Season 2012 Totals/Averages

Total   12   140   118   258   58   2   5   31   1   8   9   953   910

Mid Priced Player Rating (MID) 7/10 - For the price he is certainly worth having, should play every game and should see a modest increase in his season average, won't make the elite bracket this season however or make enough to serve as a genuine cash cow. There are many worse options for the money but I would not be looking at rookie players around this price myself. Future star to be sure but will need 3-5 years to be elite in fantasyland especially in that team.

Dream Team Price: $296,200

Profile & Discussion:  http://www.fanfooty.com.au/forum/index.php/topic,68359.msg898556.html#msg898556

Prospectus Says:  VFL numbers were very impressive last season, watch his pre-season.

Pedersen was one of the unlucky few kept out of the side by a combination of bad luck and good form by the players ahead of him.
When he did break in for games in Round 6 and Round 8, North suffered losses. Then, when he hit a hot streak of form in the VFL he was unable to force either of Lachlan Hansen or Robbie Tarrant out of the side.
He was rewarded for a superb season at Werribee by winning the club's best and fairest award.
BACKGROUND
Recruited from Box Hill Hawks in the VFL
A true utility, able to play forward, back and in the ruck
Great closing speed for his size
SEASON
2011

SEASON BY SEASON
Elevated to the senior list after Ayden Kennedy suffered a ruptured ACL, Pedersen was thrown into the fire early. He made his debut in Round 1 playing as the sole ruckman against Dean Cox and Nic Naitanui.
With the return of Todd Goldstein to the side, Pedersen unluckily had to bide his time in the VFL. Impressive form meant when he returned for game number three in Round 11, he wouldn't relinquish his spot again until the final round of the season.
Pedersen played a variety of roles during his run in the side, often popping up for crucial goals in the forward line before being swung into the defensive half to help quell opposition's key forwards.

Chris Knights
#15   Richmond Tigers
Age: 26yr 4mth    Games: 96     Born: September 25, 1986
Height: 184cm     Weight: 84kg     Position: Midfield, Forward
Last Drafted: Round 4, Pick #56 2004 National Draft
Last Drafted By: Adelaide Crows
Dream Team Price: $254,500

Joined the Tigers during the free agency period after eight
seasons with Adelaide. Was among the most damaging
half-forwards in the game during 2008 and 2009, but endured
a horror run with injuries in 2010 and 2011. Renowned for his long
and accurate left-foot kicking, Knights was fit for much of last
season but struggled to break into the Crows’ strong line-up.
However, his form in the SANFL was outstanding â€" he averaged
26 possessions a game for Woodville-West Torrens.

Prospectus Says:  Like Maric he could come out and exceed all expectations this season. Pick him if he's fit.

Season 2012 Totals/Averages

Past Dream Team Average Scores

Year   Games   Average
2005   2   20.0
2006   10   50.1
2007   21   87.8
2008   15   83.1
2009   18   84.7
2010   5   66.8
2011   16   75.9
2012   5   49.4

Upside:

With his move via free agency from the Crows to the Tigers and the associated fresh start in which this offers, Chris Knights has a golden opportunity to re-launch his fledgling AFL career, which through persistent injury and lack of chances at senior level at the Crows has caused him to play just 26 senior games in the last three seasons.

He clearly has the talent and ability to play AFL football at a quality level, given his efforts in 2007, 2008 and 2009 where his season averages respectively were 90.6, 84.5 and 83.1, which are healthy numbers especially for a mid-sized forward.

Downside:

At the age of 26, the time is now for Knights to make a serious impact at AFL level which he so promised with his breakout season in 2007, but the big question is will he be able to. Since that 2007 season with the Crows where he played in 21 matches and averaged 90.6 SuperCoach points per game, Knights has not played 20 games in any one season, with his highest tally being in 2009 where he played 18 matches and averaged a solid 83.1. At his best he is certainly a capable, versatile footballer as a forward that also possesses the ability to pinch hit in the middle, but he might not be the most reliable option given his previous history of injury.

Year in Review:
Knights’ opportunities at the Crows in 2012 were extremely limited, as he was only selected to play in five matches, and in three of these he was the starting sub. In these five matches he averaged 74 minutes of actual game-time, and as such his average of 46.4 isn’t as bad as it appears. His high point for the year was ironically the match against the Tigers in Round 14, where he collected 19 disposals, kicked two goals and collected 73 SuperCoach points.

What to expect in 2013:
This is the 64 dollar question, for at his best Knights is certainly capable of playing a vital role for the Tigers, as they see him as being a valuable asset in their plans to make the finals for the first time since 2001. However, the perennial issue with Knights is just how much senior football he will actually play. Admittedly, last season was a bit of a misnomer as in the successful Crows side that finished 2nd on the home and away ladder, he did find it hard to break into the senior side despite some solid form at SANFL level for the Eagles. Given that Richmond seemingly has a spot for Knights in its best 22, given the pursuit of him as a free agent, then it will only be his ability to get through the season injury free that will hold Knights’ back from reaching his peak form. In 2007 his only full season at the Crows, he managed six century scores and a high of 158, and while it is unrealistic to expect him to reach those heights this season, an output of 18 games, and 30 goals, while averaging 15 disposals is not out of the question and so an average of 75 points a game is the expectation for Knights accordingly.

DT Talk:  http://dreamteamtalk.com/2012/12/20/chris-knights-deck-of-dream-team-2013/

Mid Priced Player Rating (FWD) 7.5/10 - If he secures a regular spot in the side he will be a great cash cow, definately not a keeper but will make you some srious coin based on his low starting price.

Menzel was one of the few hard-luck stories of an otherwise successful season for the Cats in 2011. The highly rated youngster was displaying the form that was drawing favourable comparisons with a young Steve Johnson, but injured his knee in the qualifying final win over Hawthorn. He ruptured his ACL as he chased down a ball close to the boundary line and is expected to miss most of this season. However, he has time on his side and looks a genuine star of the future.

Daniel Menzel Biography

Sunday, 3 February 2013

Paul Chapman says Geelong's senior players are doing their best to offer support to Daniel Menzel as he attempts to make a comeback from a third knee reconstruction.
"It's hard to comprehend, especially for me, because I haven't really had any major injuries like that," Chapman said.
"I go and talk to 'Menz' and see how he's going. I talk about his rehab and see where he's at, and I think that helps.
"It's good for him to know that the older players care about him and for him to get the chance to talk about it."

Wednesday, 30 January 2013

After enduring two failed comebacks from knee reconstructions, Geelong forward Daniel Menzel has turned to LARS surgery in a bid to revive his career.
"Because I'd already had two conventional reconstructions we weren't going to do a third one," Menzel said.
"Two in a row is hard enough mentally, three is too much.
"Fremantle's Anthony Morabito has had exactly the same thing and he's having LARS as well because you just can't do three (reconstructions) back-to-back pretty much."

Monday, 17 December 2012

Geelong's Daniel Menzel suffers a setback in his recovery from a knee reconstruction, straining his knee during a training drill.
"Dan had a minor mishap at training … and we just wanted to make sure that the best treatment was available for him back in Geelong, so he's stayed back there," Cats development coach Nigel Lappin said.
"He was just doing a little bit of twisting work, but it was nothing major at all, so he'll be fine."

Prospectus Says: A risky pick this season, but one I could see paying off.

Mid Priced Player Rating (FWD) 4.5/10 - this with a huge upside. You won't start him he won't be playing round 1, but a potential downgrade target after his first couple of games mid season is on the cards. Hugely talented he will be a great cash cow and potentially a star player of the future but only if the knee holds up. Watch his progress back from injury and keep an eye on his return to the AFL but not in consideration for round 1.

Love to see a report on arryn siposs colli.

i think i have the article about menzel doing his acl again in the write up? and him having lars surgery on it? or did he do it again and then again after the surgery?

i may have missed an injury either way he is not going in anyones team any time soon that is for sure.

Siposs is a great request, tricky price but lots of talk of him breaking out this season, i'll get to him ASAP

Yeah he did his acl that kept him out last year. then when geelong said he twisted his knee in training at the begining of the year he actually did it again. Geelong tried to keep the 3rd acl quiet.
