Has anyone else consisered there structure of trading for next year??

With the number of LTI's we endured this year it meant that upgrades were harder to make. In the end I made 8 upgrades, 7 trades for LTI's, 7 downgrades and two trades for bad rooks. Out of trades by RD 18. Somehow I managed to hang on ok. Will definitly try and keep couple of trades for finals next season.

So can we expect similar next year or will next year bring better luck??
How many upgrades can we expect to make and how many LTI's can we expect?

ATM my plans are 4 trades for LTI's and 2 for bad rooks. However this is unlikely to be enough.

Next year will be easier and harder.

I think the DT Gods will go easier on us after this seasons feedback, we may get more trades to use over the byes or an extended bench...?

I ran out this season, I finished 1500 ish, but over the bye rounds shot up as high as 900, this cost me trades however and running out as a result cost me the places in the run home.

So I'll be saving trades simply can't burn all your trades and expect to maintain rank over the last 6 rounds. Resting of premiums is as much a killer as LTI late in the season.

But being able to start premiums at low mid priced pricing is another aspect that makes 2013 a potentially easier season.

Blokes like, Bock, Grey, Menzell, LeCras, ect as well as a fine crop of rookies, I am optimistic of a better season next year.

A little tricky picking rooks this season, not too hard, but a little harder picking the ones who will play regularly from round 1. We have had it easy for 2 seasons now knowing the GCS then GWS rooks will all have to play.

After all that - My trade strategy will be a certain number for LTI, a certain number for the run home to cover resting - The rest for upgrades and NO EXCEPTIONS. (Hopefuly some of the upgrades can be done over the byes again to minimize the carnage over those rounds and steel some ranks)

Not sure on whether we'll get extra trades or bench players (hopefully)

Hopefully my mid-prices come off. For example if Harbrow and Bock avg 75+ one becomes D7 & other D8. Leuenberger avg 80+ will stay R2. Lecras avg 80 will become F7. Knights/Gray (dunno who to pick yet) avg 75+ and move from FWD to MID bench.

If this works out then I'll only need 14 trades for 7 upgrades + Bock and Gray/Knights on the bench. Meaning I have plenty of trades for LTI's/Finals.
I guess it's all guessing & hoping ATM though :)

Going by the Fanplanner i have a structure of  13/5/1/11 for next year. This leaves me with 9 upgrades, but like Colliwobbler says if you consider midpriced players from FWD/DEF/RUCK positions eg: Bock,Gray,Lecras and Leuenberger as potential Premiums in those positions this could leave you with only needing to upgrade 5 more players.

I always like to upgrade my team as early as possible giving you an advantage over other players early. If there are problems with LTI's early then you may have to re assess. Last year i upgraded early and got into a bit of trade trouble but saved myself a couple of trades holding onto players like Swan and Ablett yes it did cost me some points and ranking but it was a good way of gaining some trades back on other teams.

By round 15 i only had 3 trades left but this was also because i made a couple of luxury trades vs mates teams early on in leagues (bad mistake as i would have beaten them anyway even if i hadnt traded). In round 15 i was ranked in the top 1000 by the end i was ranked 211th. If i didnt trade early and left myself more towards the end would i have finished as high as i did and would i have finished in the top 4 of all my leagues ?

You need a bit of luck to win the car and next year i will upgrade early again and hope luck runs my way with LTI's. I think i would spew if i lost by 50-100 points with a couple of trades left in the bank.
