Midfielder Brad Symes has been informed he won’t be offered another contract at Adelaide.

Symes played 60 games for the Crows after being traded from Port Adelaide at the end of 2007. The 27-year-old Gawler product also played 20 games for the Power, including the ‘07’ Grand Final.

Crows List Manager David Noble said: “Brad has been a valuable player during his five years at the football club, he is a quality person and we wish him all the best with his exciting new business venture.

“We acknowledge Brad’s nine years in the AFL system and would like to thank him for his outstanding service to the Adelaide Football Club.”

A past member of the Crows leadership group, he was a regular in the Adelaide team in 2008-09 taking out the Best Team Man award in ‘09’.

Hampered by injuries in his next two seasons, Symes regained full fitness this year, but was limited to two AFL games.

He spent the majority of the season with SANFL side Central District, where he played at a consistently high level. Earlier this month, he tied with South Adelaide midfielder Joel Cross in winning the Magarey Medal.

A respected figure at West Lakes, Symes said he was accepting of Adelaide's decision.

“I understand where the Club is currently at and respect their decision," he said.

"I have loved my time here, but I’m now looking forward to the next phase of my life.”

Symes joins retired veteran Michael Doughty, free agent Chris Knights and rookie Will Young in leaving West Lakes this year.

Tamblings worth to the group is far greater than any 'on-field role'. His ability to culturally integrate the different dynamics of the varied backgrounds at West lakes is admirable. He is an ambassador for the next tier of young indigenous hopefuls and has a youthful leadership in general similar to Daniel Jackson from Richmond.

I have met Richard Tambling at the Hutt St centre (a homeless shelter) and he made every single person there stand taller.

*Brad Symes - don't let the door hit you in the arse on the way out  :P

Just stay away from golf carts in the off season and you should get picked up  ;)
