Thought I would post this in your team thread

http://www.couriermail.com.au/sport/afl/brisbane-lion-superboot-josh-drummond-will-today-announce-his-afl-retirement/story-e6frepex-1226481130437

"Drummond is believed to have met with the Kangaroos this week to discuss a possible assistant coaching role."

RB and Holz this last paragraph explains the speculation we were talking about on the weekend where drummond visited Norths.  Do not know whether this has made your news in Melbourne.

Would be a handy requisition for you especially if he can pass his kicking skills and techniques on to your younger brigade.  It is no secret he possesses one of the most accurate kicks in the game.

Yeah on the weekend I read that he had been taken on a tour of our new $20mil+ facilities, and I just assumed that we would be trying to snare him as a player, but he would be very handy as a coach as well. Like you said, we still need a bit of class and precision with our kicking and if he can teach our young players that then we will be a much better side for it.

Gee, he didn't take long.  :o
Well he went on a tour of the facilities before he retired and we obviously must have contacted him before that so I wonder whether it was on influence on his retirement...

Well he is going to North RB lol.
lol Just not in the exact role I was picking :P

Sounds like a good idea to me, when i heard he was possibly moving to the roos i was in two minds. On the one hand guys like atley would learn alot from him, but i didn't want him taking away any games from our youngsters. Looks like the best case scenario for me, get him working with atley and McKenzie and that should speed up their development.

Maybe is the old I'll retire and then start playing again trick. Like all the guys that retired and then started playing for GWS.

cornes and power were both told to retire by their clubs. Mcdonald was forced to retire in 2010.

dunno about brogan.

Drummond won't play again. He retired because of injuries and his body just can't handle it any more. The others were forced into retirement when they wanted to keep playing. Surprised that Drummond is moving to North in an assistant role and I think that that had a big influence on his decision to retire.
