To probably a lot of peoples surprise, Ward had a breakout season in 2012. At only age 22 he has taken leadership of the young GWS side and really lead by example with his fierce attack and hunger for the ball. There is still plenty of upside to Ward. He has a midfield around him that looks as though it will develop quickly with players like Treloar, Coniglio, Shiel, Scully, and Palmer, if they can keep all of these sort of guys on the park together, Ward will benefit greatly in 2013.
I wouldnt expect any major leap in Wards scores in 2013, however if GWS can keep its core group of mids on the field then Ward will hopefully provide some more consistency and a solid average

Predicted avg: 110

Adamant

He's had a great year, but like Jack and a few others...there are simply better options who will push higher averages.

Ricochet

i actually think next year will be harder for the GWS boys
i'll be looking at Ward and co in 2014

Shihan7

Not for me this year. Will look at him, Greene etc. in a year or two.

Obese Arachnid

Probably not & with the talent that GWS have most likely not after this year.

I think he could end up with a run with role in this side, such is the quality.

Somebody got a little bit carried away but still saw the breakout season coming.

To be fair a 110 average in 2011 was a top 10 spot. Ward wasn't far off 110. Gave away too many free kicks in comparison to the year prior and that's what stopped him from getting there.

After seeing all the GWS boys in action I don't think Ward will improve on his 2012 average. He may play a fair bit across half forward if Sheedy gets his wish. Sneaky chance for mid/fwd status in 2014.
